I've got a 1.333 T-Bird that is just running hotter than I'm comfortable with. What is everyone else seeing? If ya can, try to stick w/ this format, just want to see the average temps per HSF and ambient temp. Thanx all!

Don't feel bad. I have a 1.4 running Idle at 51 with an ambiant of 24 and a WBK38. My father-in-law has the same processor but he idles at about 56 with an ambiant of 28 same hsf as me and that is with one side of my case. I need to get some AS2 and that should bring it down. But from most of what I read your temps seem about normal for air cooled.

the load temp is a little higher than I would have expected, but only by about 5oC or so, it's still well within tolerance.
What heat transfer compound are you using? what are you using to measure the cpu temp, an in socket thermister or a temp probe like the senfu digi thermometre? and finally what case cooling do you have?

I'm running a 1.33 @ 1.42 right now it will run at 1.52 in the winter when my ambiant temps are lower right now I'm at:
Ambiant: 27C
Case: 29C
Idle: 43C
Load: 49-50C
I was a little worried at first when I went from my 850 tbird and saw the rise in temps, but it runs stable just can't oc it as high in the summer. Can't wait for winter.
Edit * I'm using a Swiftech mc370-0a and five case fans.

Geeze..ya know, I've been long enough to know better!! :) Here's the specs:
-Abit KT7AR (no raid running) w/ the 3R BIOS
-In socket thermo w/ a dab of AS2
-Arctic Silver 2 under the CAK
-No finger screen on the Delta for better air flow (they don't really cut your fingers off..believe me, I know...DOH!)
-I've got (3) 80mm intake (one hidden infront of the HDD) and two 80mm exahust..and of course the psu fan.
-10x133@1.75v
The case is really pretty roomy and has good airflow. I think the CAK unfortunantly might not be up to the challenge. Looking at TranceBear's temps, an MC462a would be a great fit w/ this puppy...or water cooling.. :) Need some cool fall air and everything should be fine until next summer.
Here's the setup..

Look at my sig... but as an update:
If I could get my Vcore to 2.1 (after I mod my mobo) I'll get to 1.6-1.65
My temps never got higher than 45 and that was for a few seconds
Oh yes and it was 86F once in the room and it still didn't get past 44~45. (86F is exactly 30C)
edit: is that case the SX840? I have that one and it looks very much like yours.

This is my first AMD box and is less that 5 hours old...Its a bit humid in this room right now and the case is open due to me forgetting to order evough fans so I think the temps will lower once I get that straightened out, I also plan on doing the tape mod ive seen for the CAK38 tomorrow.

Does that involve creating a shroud between the base of the Delta and the CAK...??? I just did this w/ a piece of cardboard and my load temps dropped 4C. :) :) Not to shabby for a piece of cardboard and some tape!

Yes, to block the air from blowing out before it hits the heatsink so its forced into the fins... 4c thats great!!...How far down did you go with the cardboard??

I left about an inch at the base of the heatsink for air to escape. See Attached. I think my 4c estimate was a little healthy. As I type this morning. Ambiient is down to 22c and I'm looking at load of around 41c. Much better than yesterday afternoon.

Know better than what?
And that in socket thermister may be giving you a slightly higher reading than the actual core temp is.
I would recomend an sk6 or glaciator if you aren't happy with the CAK though, the sk6 has the best performance and the glaciator is very close but a tolerable noise level, I need to get another thermister to measure my actual ambient temp but going off my motherboard temp I worked out the c/w of my glaciator to be between 0.10-0.15 which is as good as most watercoolers, obviously with a higher ambient than a watercooling setup though.

AS-2
in-socket thermister confirmed with a 3rd party temp probe.

System in the basement w/ room temp @ 20c.
sorry these should have appeared on my previous post:confused:
Which wasn't sent:confused: To achieve these readings my system contains 3 case fans:
1 intake @ front 80mm
1 intake @ side mounted above cpu HSF 92mm
1 outake @ rear 80mm
Im using an Akasa silver Mountain (60mm Delta fan) and Artic Silver directly onto the cpu die (no sleave)
Some have mentioned these results may be due to a dodgy temp probe on the motherboard, but i just think its good circulation!!:)
here are the pics for those who missed them the first time.

well dont feel bad at all i get 54c load usin f@h. but i just use the heatsink and fan that came with my chip atleast till i get my sk6 soon i just ordered
