Anyone play WoW today?

If you didn't you missed out. Today was the last day of the open beta. In order to provide continuity in the game, the server being shut off IRL requires some sort of world ending catastrophe in game.

So the game masters spent the entire day spawning high level demons in major cities to destroy the townsfolk, turning people into chickens, launching them in the air, and starting random fires and billows of smoke. It was quite a sight. I'm sure worldofwarcraft.com will have some interesting pics up some time soon.

Also, for those of you in Southern California, Blizzard will be at the Frys in Fountain Valley on monday night starting at around 10:30 pm. There will be giveaways of geforce 6800s as well as a complete alienware computer. Several Blizzard employees will be there to sign your games when the clock strikes midnight and you can buy the game.

Me and a large group of people from genmay.com will be playing a yet unnamed Central PvP server, we will be alliance, so if you want to come play with us join that and be alliance, and if you want to get owned by us come to that server and play horde :)

ahh, but all the Blizzard employees will be playing on West coast servers. Perhaps you should get all your buddies to put up with an extra 30ms of lag and head on over. I'll likely be on an unnamed West PvP server. The majority of the Blizzard guys will be on PvP or RP (or maybe RP PvP if they decide to have one).

thing that sucks though is i have to buy two copies since my girl wants to play it.

all i have to say was I got on last night before they closed it down, and you should have seen the dead bodies everywhere. i was only a lvl 11 pally on central 28, so me and like 30 other low levels took on the doom guards at stormwind.. ahaha it was hilarious.. 1 hit and we'd die. we eventually killed all the doomguards but they had this infernal that was taller than the walls at stormwind.. needless to say we got crushed. but it was fun.

Mal, my clan will also be on one of the central pvp servers, but as Horde. Hopefully we get on the same one so we can show you alliance bums the power of the Horde!

I called frys and they dont know how the raffle is going to work...and blizzard.com has no mention of the rules. Will you have to buy WoW to be enterd into the raffle? Is the raffle free? Or can I buy just raffle tickets for the 6800's...


I dont want to have to buy a game I dont want, just to have a chance at winning a 6800 :-/

dunno. I was never told about how the raffle will work. It is likely being put on by nvidia since nvidia is going to be there. I don't know who is raffling the alienware computer.

FYI, I am now playing on Tichondrius, a PvP West server. I'm a Rogue Troll.

And my character is already level 10 and it's only 8:30pm here. tee hee. Several people that got in early were thinking of death rushing some of the opposing teams noob zones while there is still nobody online. All the level 1 guys that make the mistake of attacking would certainly hate us, but it would be really friggin funny to be owning all the level 1 guys at their own base.

that sounds challenging.

regarding the raffle it was a kroq thing and wow nor fry's were involved with it. the whole thing was a stunt to draw as many people to the event as possible. so in the end standing in line for eons was only worth it if u wanted a nice cloth map, a pet youy can't really use, and a book of "art"; ie. special edition.
