Not true. It's your motherboard that needs to recognize the USB boot device, not windows. If my USB's didn't work till windows was installed and updated to SP1, I'd never beable to install any version of Windows (I have a USB keyboard).
 
Should work fine only stipulation is that your board is capable of booting form a usb device. Change boot order in bios to usb cd-rom as #1 and should work fine. Only stipulation is that your board needs to support this. any post kt400 chipset shoulld be fine.
