Hey all, I just installed win2kpro and i'm currently running at default speeds, but my folding times seem a little faster than what they were with win98. I know this isn't really scientific, but has anyone else noticed a speed difference when switcing to win2k pro ?

thanks,

Josh

Actually, 98se is the fastest os for folding. It may be because it's a newly installed system, so everything runs smoother, and there's probably less running in the background.

You beat me to it. I think that win98se is the fastest folding environment when it's not crashing.
I never compared the two but there is a folding timer out there- http://www.alistairbraidwood.com/html/folding_timer.html that will give an approximation of folding times for various OS's, processors, RAM, etc.

well your right about win98 being faster that is for sure. it took about 8 hours to do 53 workunits last night!
