i was looking through my hardware info in win2k and i noticed how it seems like everything is using irq7. . .sound card, modem, raid controller, graphics card, and more all on irq7. could this be the source of my sound problems (check out post here--> http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?threadid=34441 ). . . i seem to remember that the same thing happend when i had 98 installed but i had no problems back then. . .

That is the way win2k sets it up by default if it detects acpi on install. you can change it to standard pc in device manager by updating the driver of the item under computer to standard pc and letting it restart and redetect your devices. The standard pc uses a irq model similar to win98.
