I finaly orderd my new computer. the mobo has VIA VT6122 Gigabit Ethernet which is 10/100/1000 is im not mistaken. Is this pointless to have on a network.. Are there routers that support 10/100/1000 or is the 1000 just on the lan not the wan?

yeah gigabit is usually only taken advantage of on a lan, most people (if anyone) don't have an internet connection fast enough to take advantage of gigabit on the wan part.
There are switches for gigabit, I'm not sure about routers that support gigabit.

Gigabit would have been useful in WAN only if you lived in HK.
Average internet connections will probably be around 1MBit to 6Mbit for domestic broadband services. Even if you just had a 10MBit card it shouldn't be a bottleneck.
A 10/100 card is fine for most things - a 1GBit connection is useful for transferring a lot of files between computers on a LAN.
