View Full Version : W2k Personal Web Server
I'm running Win2K Professional, and I'm running an FTP and a WWW server. My problem is, that every now and then, Windows will turn off both for no aparant reason. Can anybody help me out?
that is weird! I would upgrade to win2k server cuz it is much better for setting up ftps and websites. do both quit at the same time? I would like more info about the crashes if you could post messages and what not it would be helpful.
Well, I don't wanna go Server, because that would require formatting my HD (You can't upgrade from Pro to Server. It dosn't work that way)
There are no real error messages, it just stops both services for no reason. I've checked the error logs, and all it says is:
"The World Wide Web Publishing Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 9 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action. "
And:
"The FTP Publishing Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 9 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action. "
Its just frustrating, because if my friends are trying to download something, or look at my web page, they usually get booted. I'm running Cogeco@Home (Static IP) so I don't think thats the problem. I've just never seen anything like this before.
hell it just shuts them down. I don't really know cuz my ftp has never quit on me. I use server but if both are doing it than I believe it is either a ISP issue. Does the event viewer tell you any more details?

Look at your system logs, system, application, and security and it might tell you why it's shutting them down.
I posted the error messages from the Event Viewer in my 2nd post. Maybe I should just go server.
