View Full Version : My WonderFull X800 Day!
Well, since I partied this weekend, and I knew my delivery of my x800pro ViVo card would be arriving today I slept out in the living room. Amazingly at 10am Mr.Brown rings the door bell, and hands me a small box. I'm thinking woah, wrong delivery, since I had also ordered an artic silencer rev.4. Oh well, half awake now I tear open the box to look for my retail sapphire vivo card... its not there!!! I pull the artic silencer out, in its nice little case, and dump the rest out onto the floor. Boop drops a small white package, oh no....oh noo.....but turning the package over, I see written on it, X800 XT Platinum Edition. Now i'm thinking I'm dreaming.....so I pop it into my default rig and guess what it loads as xt pe!! DREAM COME TRUE!!!! now if i could remmeber how to add pictures i would upload this hilariously fun day for everyone. Clocked default 520/560, bench 560/600, think i'll run 555/585 daily. Oh and I should fix my sig..... hmmm

awesome! Where'd ya get it? I'm sure several peeps would like to know!
Ordered from Directron!
http://www.directron.com/sapx800pro256.html
The cooler that I received was definately not the sapphire cooler nor was it the Toxic version, I had really thought I ordered a retail Toxic x800pro Vivo.
My loving thanks to Directron!
Ohh how do I post pics!!!

Looks mighty familiar except mine has a blue pcb. Damn man, you got lucky! I got lucky too though, I only paid $508 for my PE, but I had to do a LOT of searching!
only step up now is amd64 :P
A little off topic, but since I've gone from SLK900 air to water cooling, my cpu temps and ambient temps have gone UP UP UP, however the system is running more stable then before, I have sensors placed at the CPU outlet, which reads between 87F-99F at all times (even 100% load prime95 priority 10) my resevoir which is after my heatercore reads usually 2-3 F lower then the CPU outlet, CPU load will go up to 55C sometimes but water temperatures always stay pretty stable, which should I trust more, the water temps or the software sensor temps?

LOL, same thing happend to me...well kinda
Newegg had a x800xt-pe, but they had it labeled as just a x800xt...
I got it for $485 :) Looks just like urs, but w/ a blue pcb (and that is sapphires normal cooler)
I haven't really oc'ed mine much, ati tool found artifacts at 560/585, but atitool is buggy w/ x800's....I'm really hopeing that's not it's limit!
But nice find man!!!!

It's been a long day....lol
OMG this card is sweet, artic silencer on, now running 560 core, 600 mem no artifacts, i just broke 13k in 3d03!!!!! one of the fastest 32bit comps around now i bet hehee i really need to go 64bits to gain bandwidth...
Wow, that's awsome. Congrats.
You lucky bugga.
Im sure you will enjoy teh power.

You might want to post this in teh cooling section, it does sound like an issue. I always thought the CPU temp would go down after watercooling.

holy cow! so you ordered a vivo toxic and got an xt pe?! now that is a deal! is it a sapphire xt pe?
edit: holy cow, you are soooooo lucky! people have been waiting months and months and still haven't seen the ones they have ordered yet! good for you!
thx all, this about made my week, especially being able to straight up oc it to 560/600, gonna let the as5 set in and see if i can go any higher, if not im certainly happy enough with this clock rate. :)
edit:: it doesn't seem to be made by sapphire, its on a red PCB instead of the blue one, and it had a stock x800 cooler on it (all the x800 use same ones with different stickers i think), it *might* be a BBA xt pe, not sure how to find out though.
Here's a pic of the cooler that was originally on the x800xt pe before i put the silencer rev4 on it.
Many thanks for everyone, i've been reading these forums and those over at XtremeSystems for a few yrs now, and the advice you guys have given have been a great help, taking me up to 2.8ghz, i'd never really thought it would have been possible w/o the help from here!
Oh, and running dual LCD monitors, im amazed at the amount of desk space i HAVE now compared to having just 1 19" CRT like before (managed to get each lcd for about 220-250 dollars each too!)
Wow.. amazing score from Directron! congrats man!
god i hate resevoirs....especially leaky ones.....
lol stoner... how much was that arctic cooler? im looking into getting something like that for my 9800 xt ;o
Damnit, why did you have to post this. Now im not sure whether to get this and hope for the best, or just stick with getting a 6800 GT.

I think the AS Rev4 was like 25bux or something, works quite well, and it might fit an 9800xt but i'm not sure, the mounting holes seem to be the same places....

Is it completely gone??? or drying it would fix it?
Is it completely gone??? or drying it would fix it?
NO, NO, NO!
say it aint so!
/me thinks i have second thoughts about ever going LC now. :bang head
dead, borked, gone, fubared...gave it 99% isopropyl bath for 12hrs, let it dry with two evercool 100+cfm fans blowing on it for another 24hrs. Still giving me the damn "graphics card isn't powered up" msg even though fans are spinning. Oh well, chalk this one up for a lesson learned...NO MORE RESEVOIRS....however the res seems to keep temps more stable <sadly>

damn, i am sorry to hear that. How long did you have it a day? what about RMA? If you don't have any moral issues returning the card (obvioulsy warranty doesn't cover these kinds of accidents) your only problem is your receipt (required for most RMAs) doesn't have the right item listed. Your best bet now is to call Directron up and say "You sent the wrong card. Oh and by the way it doesn't work!" :p "Please send me a new non-defective one. And could you have the same guy who pulled my last video card from your stock pull the new card too?" Well at least your Karma is balanced out now.
I just fried my 9800 Pro as well, cept with arctic silver epoxy.
Did a 70% Isopropyl bath for 30 minutes, didn't work
Did a 92% Isopropyl bath for 30 minutes, didn't work
Did a 92% Isopropyl bath for 24 hours, didn't work
Did a breaking of the card in half, and it worked fine.

The flash will shorten the life span of the card by a lot in most cases, or atleast thats what i have heard. Be carful with it, it would suck to kill another card

Congrats on your video card. Now all you have to do is cut out a hole above the fins on your arctic silencer, the size of a 60mm fan (elcheapo cpu fan) and place it over the fins and seal it with some silicon, add power to it and watch your GPU temps drop 10C.
