ok well i bought 2 92mm fans and a grill to make a fan tunnel like this

http://www.casemodgod.com/HSF_funnel.htm

i have a thermalright sp-97 heatsink and i cant mount it, ive tried evey single dam way on how to mount it but i cant. It uses clips to mount the fans

http://www.thermalright.com/a_images/sp97/installation_sp9709.jpg

I also couldnt use my grill since my psu sags on top of it but i dont really care too much about it, but i just care about the fan tunnel. i want it reallly bad but i cant figure anyway to mount it

this is how the fan sits normally

and heres what it would be like with a fan on top

http://img21.exs.cx/img21/7395/fanfunneldiagram2.jpg

the clips cant get to the spot to mount, so wtf do i do?

i cut slits into the tunel part itself to fit the wires through , didnt work, i used screws to latch the wire bracket onto, i tried paper clips, nothing works wtf!!

this makes me soo pissed, im never going to buy thermalright crap again, they make there crap so complicated.

plz help!!!!!!

actualy its quite easy, is not designed to be used with two fan casings. this doesn't make it "crap" those fan clips make it much easier to remove and put fans onto the heatsink.

dont go knockin on thermalright becasue you want to do something to it thats its not designed to do, there heatsinks are really well made, and some of the best that you can buy at the moment.

and have you tried using zip ties?

could you use the zip ties to attach the fan casing to the fan?

wow i feel really stupid, that could work, dunno if the big ones would fit, and the small ones may not be long enough

btw, i e-mailed thermalright asking them if they could send me some si-97 clips, csince they mount to the bottom part of the fan

Why not use fan mounting screws to attach the two fans? Just screw one into one all the way & then screw that into the other fan (basically taking the top fan with it). Once you have the first one put more screws in the other holes.

ok try this,i did this with a custom nb fan. Put a zip tie around your heatsink (like how you would a belt) put the fan on top. Put a ziptie over the fan,*zip* it around the first zip tie......if you need pics ill host

edit: you may have to your two,or put a ziptie on top of the heatink than a fan (you could use two where the fan holes are so the fan sits level) and *zip* it over the fan since you dont have a clip.HOPE THAT MAD SENSE

i would first do the zip ty thing and then try something else because zipty's are really cheap

Try springs! Go to your local hardware store and get some short coil tension springs with a hook on both ends. Look at the spring at 9:00. The ones i used were about 2" long with the coil part being about 1". There were many other sizes.

Just a thought.

ya those would work but id rather not spend the money (even though it costs like less than a dollar)

i think the cable ties should work fine, ill probly sleeve it too lol
