Windows 2000 prob - taskbar disapears

Very strange problem I'm experiencing, when I click 'show desktop', the taskbar completely disapears, it should just minimize it, any ideas what the prob could be? its driving me mad, Im even considering doing a reinstall

Well, it's only a guess as I've never seen that happen before, but right-click on the taskbar, choose properties and see if "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows" is checked.

that would be my guess as well. Also ensure the lock taskbar box is checked as well. If its not one of those two I'm stumped.
