every time i boot into ME, all the windows are set to show as date. and i have to view>show by name.. it gets pretty old after the 2nd or 3rd time..... how can i fix this??

and when i go out of safe mode and back into windows, the desktop is all messed up and it takes me like 2minutes to arange the icons the way i had them before... is there a program that will rememeber how i had it?

thanks

You could try this...

My Computer | Tools | Folder Options | View | Remember each folder's view settings.

As far as a program that resets your desktop to the way it was before entering Safe Mode...I don't know of one offhand. I've always just lived with the fact that my desktop is going to have to be reset manually, to the way it was beforehand.;)

Thats been bugging me too in 2k. I have checked 100 times to remember each folders view settings (view- details) yet it never retains it after a reboot.

Have you tried using the "Reset all folders" button (which resets the folder view to Windows default), rebooting and resetting your view preferences?

Open a folder goto extra/folder options/click on the tab in the middle (don't know its name, cuz i'm using ME dutch version)
and there it is (hide known file extensions).

Did you download the latest critical update for windows Me on the microsoft update site? Also you might wanna install Windows IDE Hard Drive Cache Package. It's on that site also..
