I have been testing 2 sets of duel channel ram. One set is PQI PC3200 Turbo 512 mb. (2x 256) 5-2-2-2 at 220 fsb. The other set is OCZ PC3500 1 gig (2x512) 7-3-3-2.5 at 220 fsb. I am using XP , NF7-S and so far I am happier w/ the PQI . I dont see any advantage of using the 1 gig set over the 512. Both sets were tested (ea. stick individually) w/ prime95 so I know that all the ram is good. In which cases would 1 gig be better than 512 mb? My games seem to load just as fast w/ the 512 as the 1 gig. And every thing seems to run faster w/ the PQI . I know it must be because of the tighter timings. Any technical advantages of the 1 gig set? I am just not seeing any advantage.

Well what games are you using? 1Gig should only make a difference with the newest games, and games that will be comming out soon. Also it will make a huge difference if you do any video editing

Unless you use your computer to benchmark ::laughs at all the benchmark wh0r3s:: 2x256 is pointless...If you play games then 2x512 is better...regardless of FSB/timings.
Play Vietnam, Farcry, Doom3, HL2, etc etc etc...with 2x512 and enjoy the smoothness...keep the exact same config and unplug one of the 512's and watch the games CRAWL, ESPECIALLY on high detail.

2 x 512MB is the way to go.

In my experience, 1GB is better, even with relaxed timings. I've had 2-2-2-5 2x256 and then 2.5-3-3-7 2x512 of the same frequency, and the 2x512 was much more smooth.

in benchmarks, they probably be higher, but in game, there is less lag, ever try playing doom3 with 512mb and 1024mb? i can't stand 512mb, ITS HORRIBLE!

Another vote for 1 gig, sure 2-5-2-2 is nice but whats the point with disk swap happening all the time you play? :)
