View Full Version : Temp alarm going off on K7D MasterL
I have 2 MP2800's running at stock and watercooled. Temps on each cpu is always around 42 degrees celsius. I saw that one of the temp readings got up to 65 and then a few sec later the other one went down to 8 degrees, so I know something is wrong with the readings. It started doing this last week and I have had no problems with this computer since I built it 12 months ago. I am using motherboard monitor. I even have the temp alarm disabled, but my computer is making the alarm go off and it gets anoying. Scares the crap out of everyone in the room. :bang head
I even did a virus scan with norton. I have the 2004 version of Norton installed.

this happened on a soyo 6ba+iv i had a long time ago...all the temp monitoring on the board just failed...
so i disabled mbm and went into the bios and disabled the cpu alarms in there...then all was quiet again ;)
but, it didn't really matter that i didn't have temp monitoring anymore since after a year of knowing the temps under all room temps and stress conditions...i knew the cpus were fine

Just hope nothing else starts to fail on this mobo. Thanks for your response.

Yeah it sounds like they are failing or have already failed, it happens sometimes, I wouldn't worry about it if your temps have always been within spec prior to this occurence.
Welcome to the Forums!
I have noticed that inside my pc it is really dusty. I guess I need to clean it out. I understand that dust can cause major problems. Electricty can pass through and kill stuff on the mobo. Can I just use my regular vacuum cleaner with the attatchment on it and go in and do it?

No, it would be best if you just used a can of air and blow it out, they are easily attainable from walmart, or a discount store in the electronics/computer section, static electricity can build up on the end of the attachment, and could fry your mobo, etc.
