View Full Version : Glaciator or imitation?
Do all the Millenium Glaciators have the logo embedded on the side of the HS?The reason I'm asking is because I bought one awhile back and have since seen a few pictures on the net and mine does not have the name written on the side like the ones I've seen and also because it sucks and I've heard nothing but good things about them.It came in the box with Millenium Thermal stamped on it in blue and it said from Conn. so I know that's right. Also I have seen a picture of one with a lever on the side to latch the CPU.Mine also does not have this.Is this a custom job or did I get an imitation?
I got mine strait from millennium thermal, and It doesn't have a logo on it..
Here's (http://www.millennium-thermal.com/start.htm) the link to their site, they have a little pic there..
Any chance of a picture of yours?
And what do you mean about a lever on the side to latch the CPU, do you mean that goes on the lugs of the socket?

When you say it doesn't perform well, are you judging by the temp reported by an in-socket thermistor or by the amount you can overclock your chip?
The in socket thermistors are notorious for being extremely inaccurate. The best use for them is to make sure that you're not going to be killing your cpu in the long run. The killing temp is about 70C (for AMD at least) and you should aim to keep your cpu below 60 due to inaccuracies.
On the picture from their site there is a pole loooking thingy that looks like it's used to push down on the spring easier.Maybe its only on the newer ones.By it sucks I mean my Gladiator from SVC cools my CPU's better.I've tried it on 3 MB's and 4 different CPU's and the Temps aren't any better than using a generic AMD HSF.I'm using AS II and my ambient is well within reason.
Do you mean the fan wires? :)
Is it what I've put the question mark pointing to that you mean?
Yes, I wish I had my camera hooked up I'll do it tomorrow and take a picture of it.But thats it.

Glaciator reports worse temps than it should, by about 5C BUT almost everyone is able to overclock with it higher than other heatsinks. The SVC Golden Gate is a great heatsink, but the Glaciator is even better.
