Installing maps on UNREAL TOURNAMENT?

I've just starting playing Unreal tournament a few days ago. I downloaded some new maps but they don't show up in mine scroll bar. I do have the patch installed version 436 and have placed the maps and textures into the right folders. The only way i currently play those new maps are by clicking on the map name in Windows Explorer. Any suggestions?

Did you try looking in the "Start Practice Game" option ? They may show up there. I'm not sure if they will show up in the tournament games as that may only be limited to a specific set of maps - just a wild guess there.

did you put them in the maps folder or just downlaod them while playign online?

My brother gave a burned cd he made with approx. 200 maps and textures he downloaded. I do know where to place them. (the .unr and .utx files)

The maps will only show up if you are playing -

a)multiplayer game
b)practise game

You can play a multiplayer game by yourself...just setup a 6 player minium game and bots will fill in the other 5 spots. The play practise game method is the easiest.

I actually try to adapt to the map at hand and the flow of the match. Not all maps lend themselves to sniping. Even if I am sniping I will move around as much as possible for my own protection and to harass the openents as much as possible. I do manage to score the occassional point in CTF. Just a couple of days ago I had someone accuse me of being a "bot" during a House of Cards match. Of course the server was running the newest CSHP (I don't even look at servers that are not running it), I don't even know what would be possible under the new versions as far as trying to run an aim-bot (I've never even played around with such things - why bother?). While my sniping may be above par my melee skills are at best average so as the maps rotate and the teams are continually adjusted it evens out in the long run.

Just don't let my wife get spawned on the opposing team! LOL She gets mad when I kill her "to much."

There is also a UT map manager that will take maps they you have played online and put them on your PC to play alone. The program basically spilts up the cache files and places all the textures, sounds and maps into the right places. Ill have to look for the link to get it. If I do I'll post it.
