Ok here's what i got:
3000+ winchester @2.6ghz on a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
1 gig PC3200
Leadtek 6800 ULTRA@450/1200
2x 5.4k RPM HDs
1x CD Burner (old)
1x DVD ROM (old)
4x 120mm fans at 5Volts (on radiator)
2x 80mm Case fans at 5volts
1x 92mm fan at 5v
2x UV kathodes
As you can see i have a damn power hungry system.
Currently i am running on a 550w LC Power (cheapo) PSU with 24 Amps on the 12v rail. I have all the fans on a seperate 250W PSU though. Why?
When i run Peime i hear a nasty coil whine comming from my 550W PSU.
The system is rock stable but i have can't get a POST. I have top power up wait a bit then power down and power up again.
I think the PSU can't deliver enough peak power for the boot up sequence.
That and the coil whine during Prime95 makes me very worried.
Currently i am thinking about a new PSU. I know the OCZ Powerstream 520 is a great PSU but it is 150€ (about 180-190 US dollars) around here and nowhere in stock! It's friggin impossible to get that PSU!
Now i stumbled across a FSP Blue Storm 500W Retail PSU.
It's about half the price and has 2 seperate 12v rails.
FSP is forton right?
Wich PSU to bhuy and where?
Are there any US online shops shipping to europe for a normal price?
I definatly want a quality PSU. I don't want to buy another one in a year.
Edit: I found a shop in the UK that has the OCZ Powerstream 520 in stock. I ordered me one. I keep reading it'S the best of the best so i guess i can't go wrong there.

I've said this before, but the OCZ provides the belts rails I have ever seen, even over my old PC&C. Furthermore, you should realize some sort of gains for having such a beefy power supply. Lastly, the OCZ has 3 separate +12 volts including braided cords for your VGA and HDDs. Definitely a smart buy here.

Yeah that's typical. It's allways about 20 to 30% more expensive here in europe. I'm glad i found one in stock. I just hope i get a shipping confirmation soon or i'll go nuts. Took me a long time to track a shop with them in stock down.

Bah a fishy shop asking me to phone them to pay the additional shipping cost. They want a ridiculous sum to ship it to austria. 35 pounds and i know the package is only 10 pounds. Screwover.
So: How's the FSP 500W Bluestorm? Is that an alternative i could go for?

It should also be a decent power supply. However, I'd still get the OCZ for its features and BTX compatibility. Think of it as more future-proof than the Fortron, much like how s939 is compared to s754.

Yeah but where to get. I only found this one shop and they are behaving very untrustworthy. With the new shipping they ask for i'd pay over 200$ for the damn PSU!
Not funny!

I'm in the U.S., so I don't consider myself qualified on suggesting European distributors.

Heh of course. Oh well i'll try to get this shipping issue solved. I want this OCZ. :D
BTX Compatibility sure is something that will come in handy sometime.
The extra rail for the graphics card is also very appealing especially since i own a 6800 "the power sucker" Ultra.

If you're having trouble finding the Fortron, by all means go for the OCZ. Both will power the system, and both will be a significant step up from that L&C/Deer junk.

No contest - PC P&C. Then again, I don't mind loud PSU's as much as others do.

The OCZ and PC&C are comparable in terms of performance, but the OCZ has the slight edge over the two. Furthermore, it's extra perks make it even more attractive. Take it from someone who has owned both.

That shop having the OCZ tried to screw me over. I was so pissed about it that i started to fiddle with my existing PSU's. I managed to solve my cold boot problems. I'm powering my mobo/CPU and gfx card with th 550w LC Power and the HD's and fans with a forton 250W one. So far it works very well. Should i really upgrade or should i stick to my 2 PSU system. I'm a student and money IS an issue. So far my system is stable. I'd only upgrade if it'S really neccesary.

I would replace that 550w Deer ASAP - can't say enough about how unreliable and possibly dangerous to your system they are. I lost a hard drive and 2 RMA replacements to one :(
Replacing such a PSU now is much cheaper than replacing a blown mobo and/or CPU later on.

I see that OCZ has a new 600 watt version of their PSU out now. Does this PSU easily take the prize over the PC P&C 510 now? I am just trying to determine who is king of the kastle now :D.

Yeah but how when i can't find that friggin OCZ. :/
Any good alternatives like enermax/Ante/Forton i should look for?
How about this one:
be quiet Blackline Titanium 520W
I keep reading good things about be quiet's. It's not realyl cheap either tho. :(
Nevermind! All these PSUs are so expensive that the step to the OCZ isn't too high. I found an ebayer that sends me one from the US. I just hope that it wont be defective or i'm in trouble. :D

BeQuiet is another Topower made brand - they won't be the same units OCZ is using, but should be ok units.

I went for the OCZ anyways now. Especially the BTX compatibility made me buying it. I think the 520 Powerstream should be going strong even in my next sytem.
