WTF, my burner is only buring @ 2x?

Here's what's going on...
me and my dad have the exact same dvd burner, the nec 2510 which burns up to 8x... we both use the same dvd's (which burn at 4x) a couple weeks ago mine started burning them @ 2X! so now it takes a half hour to burn the dvd instead of 14 minutes.. i tried updating my firmware, but that didn't work :(
any help on solving this problem would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried updating the software you use to burn CDs?

no.. i used 2x diff kinds of software and got similar results...
the thing that really gets me is that me and my dad have the exact same blanks and dvd burners!

try switching weither its master or slave.

in theory it shouldnt make a difference, but with my regular CD burner, it fixed the problem. I guess the stupid company made it so it HAD to be the master or it wouldnt run at full speed. Weird, but it worked for me.
