I had a broken hp laptop that i fixed recently. I have been looking online for mods done to laptops but I can not seem to find any. The most ive seen people do was paint their laptop and one person added a new heatsink. I have painted my laptop, mad my wirless pcmia card internal and i fixed moded my proc heatsink and fan. I plan on buying a new hard drive and a dvd burner for my laptop within a month or two. I would really like to do some other mods to my laptop. If anyone has modded a laptop i would like to see the pictures of it.
Thanks,
Andrew

Try to figfure out a way to add some LED's under the keyboard for a blue backlight effect

I thought about that. I was thinking about getting some el wire or maybe drilling holes in the keyboard. I have an extra keyboard so if I screw up then it wont matter. Any links for laptop mods?

I guess you didnt click on any of the links for goggle. About a week ago when I was starting to work on my laptop I did a search on google. The links do not help out any. The first one that comes up is the best and it is all apple crap. Ive also done a search on a bunch of forums and I have found nothing.

Welcome to the Forums :)

As suggested - perhaps one of those string-things that glow cool colours (not feeling descriptive today) would look cool. Perhaps paint on the characters onto the keys using glow in the dark paint?

Can't think of anything else just now.

I started drilling holes into my extra keyboard to add in some leds. I have a hundred ultra bright blue 3 mm leds that I am going to put under my keyboard. I think this will be a lot of light. Im going to add an on off switch for the leds somewhere, not sure yet but i was thinking about making my standby button the led power button. I am also going to add a hard drive, dvd drive and network activity light on the side of my lcd screen. I have been thinking about making some sort of cut out behind the lcd screen and tinting it so the back light will shine out of it but I am not so sure that will work out well. Id really like to add a better fan to keep my proc cooler but i dont think it is possable to go any bigger than it already is because the proc fan is under my keyboard. I am going to take some pictures of my laptop as it is now as soon as I am home and have some free time.

What about building a duct of sorts for the CPU? Not sure how much room you have to work with, but it would be different to duct-mod a laptop.

I could actually make a duct going to the area where the 56k modem was. What is the smallest blower fan they make. I fix video game systems for a living and the smallest fan I have in systems are from dreamcast which is a like 1 or 1.5 inches and then the ps2 fan which is about 3 inches.
