View Full Version : How fast are USB Adapters?
Simple question. Just about how fast are they download/upload wise though usb 1.1? I got a 3com adapter that i might have to start using on my laptop cuz the lan card is going out and i would like to know the max kb/s rate of the adapters upload wise and download wise, even if both were running at the same time, if anyone knows. Thanks in advance :D
IIRC USB 1.1 is about 11 or 12 Mbit

I'd contact 3Com; that info may also be in the setup manual but I'm not sure. Haven't used 1.1 in awhile; my desktop at home uses a USB/Ethernet adaptor, but that's a 2.0 device in a 1.1 port so that doesn't help anyone...

USB 1.1 adapters are normally slower than most, the faster I have seen is 12mbps, but I don't know if some other companies may have broke this speed. However, the problem with USB adapters, is that not only does it take up the connection from the modem, but also it uses system resources which will slow down the computer even more. My advice, get a PCI slot wireless adapter if you want to run it that way.
