This Rosewill PSU looks good. Is it?

I was looking at the Fortron 530W PSU, but i noticed a 550w Rosewill that seems beter for $20 less.

Is the Fortron still better?

stick with tried and true fortron. You skimp on the psu you'll have nothing but problems

It has bigger caps than my Enlight 420 that it replaced and the sucker runs cool (perforated holes on 4 sides). +12V is actually a little hot, 12.5V. I'm maintaining my overclocks that I had with my Enlight 420 watter. I guess time will tell if it's worth it.

Some Rosewills are made by Deer, but not sure if all are - I don't trust them.

I am curious about Rosewill products too. You cannot argue with the feedback they are getting on newegg though. Rosewill is flooding newegg will all sorts of products and everyone that I have seen has immaculate repsonses.

BTW, how do you know that some Rosewill's are made by deer? Could it just be that some Rosewill cases come with deer PSUs?

EDIT= The sticker on the 550W unit above looks very reputable. It lists the combined power for the 3.3 and 5 rails. It also doesnt just add the 3.3/5 combined max output and 12 max output to get the full output which is another good sign. A cheapo company would slap a 720W max output rating on that sucka.

One of the UL file certification numbers on a pic of the label of a Newegg Rosewill traced directly to L&C, one of the many brands Deer markets under. A fancy sticker won't be enough to get me recommending these I'm afraid ;)

Hey, Oklahoma Wolf...can you help me decipher this? I sent an email to Rosewill to ask about their PSUs and this is what they sent me:

Q: I have heard that some of your power supplies are made by Deer and Linkworld. Is this true? I ask because these companies are notorious for making cheap power supplies known to fail and would discourage me from purchasing your products. In particular, I am interested in your RP500 and RP550. Would it be possible for you to supply me with the UL registration numbers for these items?

A: Thank you for your feedback. The actual maximum power value of our power supplies is higher than the mark value, these power supplies are excellent. And the UL registration number is E186010.

I went to ul.com, but its kinda hard to find your way around that site. Anyway, I looked up that reg # and it sent me to a company called "ATNG POWER CO LTD." Does that mean anything to you? They dont definitely say yes or no to the direct Deer question, so I am not sure how to interpret that.

I bought a stick of pc3200 ddram by them for work and its working like a champ...I'm just curious how an unknown company can so quickly saturate that many different avenues. Their products don't seem half bad.

ATNG isn't Deer... not sure how many Rosewills are using ATNG, but the one I traced at Newegg was L&C (Deer) beyond any doubt to me. ATNG is far better quality than Deer though, so the ones with that specific UL file number listed might be ok units.

Any Rosewills with numbers that lead to Deer, however, I wouldn't buy if you paid me ;)

I just changed a PSU in a system yesterday as a matter of fact. And yes it was a Deer. Hmm what are the odds of that.

From what I understand Rosewill is part or newegg. The only place I have seen Rosewill is newegg. But there ram works great. I'm just iffy about a power supply. I would say not to use them in new computers.

if the $20 is that important to you, then go for it.

if you don't wanna have to even worry about it, then get the fortron and work on some other parts of the system. :thup:

Thats the sensical answer, but its $20 less AND ITS PRETTY :drool: :clap:

You never want to skimp of your psu...
Always try to get top of the line psu, if your psu dies, many times it will take your entire system with it..

Try Antec, Forton, Sparkle, Coolmax maybe, Enermax, pc power & cooling those are the ones i trust most..
