I have 2x512 ram that I purchased as a matched pair and yet my NF7-S motherboard won't run them dual channel. Are there any settings anywhere that I'm missing or should it just work?

Thanks :)

did you insert one stick into slot 1, and the other in slot 3? it should work...

not that your missing all that much with that setup though :)

When I skip slot two it gives a memory beep error..... One beep that repeats. The only way I could get them to run at all is when they are right next to each other, slot one and two I think.

it sounds like your slot 3 is not functional properly. try to insert 1 stick to slot 3 to see if you get memory beep error. Test each memory modules with all 3 dimm slots. # of trials = 6.

Good luck

Hmmm.... looks like you may have something there . I tryed having a stick in the third slot by its self and it gave the same beep code and it didn't matter which stick i used. I was hoping that the board just wanted me to fill the slots in order, guess not.

I don't really feel like RMAing it, too much time and newegg has seen a few of these come back before. I guess I'll do with 2.4GHz with 1gb of ram single channel. :)

thanks

Unfortunately, your slot 3 is not working. It's a faulty slot which means you cannot run dual channel on your board.

Have you tried any other value ram or any ram stick you have beside the new modules?

Single channel will allow you to overclock higher than dual channel.

There's only 5% performance increase with dual channel enabled. 5Mhz in overclock will outbeat that loss. :burn:

Yeah, dang. I've been using the current ram for a while with out problems, just not in that slot... guess I now need watercooling so I can regain my performance loss ;)....jk
