i dont want to drill any holes in the mb but with the ones u have to insert rods into the mobo will be fine as i cant take off the stock cooling thingy than the heatsink clips onto -----hope u understand what i meed :sn:

1. Pump --- good choice if you want a silent system, but if you want more performance consider an AquaExtreme or Laing D4 DC pump.

2. Radiator --- go to a junkyard or auto parts store and buy the rad yourself. The site you linked to is ripping you off, heatercores should cost no more $25.

3. Additives --- congratulations you managed to choose one of the worst water additives. Purple Ice has been shown to do nothing towards corrosion protection.

About drilling holes in the mobo, you do at your own risk.

Choose a waterblock that mounts to the socket. Swiftech should be no problem.

Other than that, everything looks OK

lol, what additive should i get?
and theres no other site to get the heatercore from, it is a d-tek one, and the site is in £ and not $, not sure if u got mixed it.
Thanks!

LMAO...

Anyways no dont get the D4, read Cathar's article, the old MCP600/aqua extreme is a better pump if you dont mind the mtbf issue.

As for additives 90% distilled water + 10% low tox antifreeze + some iodine is a good cheap way.

As for a radiator the bigger the better =) A junkyard is an ok place to go but Id rather go to whatever your equivalent autozone is.

By d4 he meant the Laing D4 water pump also marketted as an MCP650 by Swiftech. In terms of cooling performance it does indeed fall slightly behind the AquaXtreme due to the heat added to the loop as well as noise. On the flip side Cathar also said it was a very very close second and has better MTBF numbers so its pretty much a flip of a coin.

On the radiator I know American car parts are more expensive across the pond but its still worth a shot. Look around for a US car parts supplier and ask for an '86 Chevette HC, I know its a shot in the dark but they are fairly cheap by comparision.

On the additives as people suggested simply look for a non-toxic anti-freeze. I know that there are some pretty good ones like Pentosin (Audi/VW) to the clear Mercedes type (liked for the clear instead of colored factor) that should be relatively inexpensive AND you will get enough to easily fill multiple systems or refill your own repeatedly.

but with the chevette hc, will i have 2 weld the 1/2" barbs to it?

also im getting the ehiem 1250. not a d4 one

You can just cut the barbs down and squeeze the tubes over them.

Setup looks pretty good - don't buy the tubing from DangerDen though. You can get it for like $0.68 US from McMaster Carr .. I think the link is www.mcmaster.com.

Waterblock is awesome - I have one and it's amaaaaazing.

For the pump consider either the DD D4 or the Swiftech MCP650 (same pump and real nice).

I got a rad from a guy called 2Fresh from the [H]ard Forums. It comes with two 120 mm fans as well (can't even hear them when you undervolt them).

If you're going for a GPU cooler, I quite like my Silverprop CycloneFusion HL - looks awesome and delivers great performance.

For hose clamps, I recommend the clamps you can just tighten with a screwdriver (they're like $0.50/clamp - work real well, too).

I opted not to go for UV additive for the water because I read that it causes the tubing to degrade much faster than normal. I just used some antifreeze, added a little bit of ink from a highlighter and got a nice 12" CCFL and let 'er rip - looks awesome.

Just my two cents .. actually, it costs considerably more than that!!
