Hi,

My mobo is Mercury KOB740CFDMx. The processor is onboard AMD 2200 Duron. http://www.kobian.com/products.php?productid=420

It says 266DDR, but I'm not sure if that gives me a choice for PC2100 only? I think I've seen PC2700 for 266DDR as well. I'm confused on which one I can get.

Also, I have 2 slots for this. I'm still thinking whether I should get a 512 stick or 1 Gig stick. I'm also curious if house-brand or generic RAM (Pricewatch) is safe and good? The good brand RAM costs so much. I prefer to get a 1Gig stick HouseBrand or Generic, but I'm scared that it'll break later on or something like that.

Sorry for asking so much. Please help.

Thanks.

You should have no problem putting PC2700 in there (DDR333).

I'd always recommend a brand name over generic. Not so much the longevity but compatibility.

Look at the Corsair Value memory. Good price and solid memory. Lifetime warranty.

From the spec's, it looks like each slot only supports up to a 512mb stick. So if you want a GB, you'll have to get 2-512mb sticks.

u can get a good stick of pc2700 (512) for 80.00/90.00. and a gig for 160/180.00. check out newegg/ komusa/outpost.. i have had very good experiences with all three companies and they sell quality ram for very good prices. komusa will give support to help u choose, if u want help. call or email randy lo. he is a great guy and will help u if u want..

I thought since the computer supports up to 2 Gig, each slot would be able to support 1 Gig?

I guess getting the houseBrand 1Gig is not a good choice?

Thanks.
