View Full Version : OCing Sapphire X800XT PE with ATITool
I had very limited success trying to OC my X800 XT PE using ATITool. While the core is stable at around 240MHz, the memory doesn't want to move a notch up, which is strange, as the memory used with the card is rated higher actually. I'm trying to think ATITool has some problem with OCing X800 XT. When there's a problem the graphic test window turns yellow all of a sudden. I didn't use to have this with ATITool while trying to OC 9800 Pro for example. Anybody else has encountered it? I guess I should just do it manually then and test with some games, eh?

Maybe try ATI tray tool. It seems to reach higher clocks than ATItool which is less forgiving of artifacts.
I tried ATI Tray. However, when trying to OC the memory it doesn't find any artifacts until at one point (around 575MHz usually) the entrie screen gets screwed and fills with artifacts, so I have to reboot my computer. At least with ATITool I get the artifacts limited to the test window (the entire cube flashes green and then ATITool stops), but with ATI Tray the artifacts are all over.
I guess I just can't OC my X800XT PE's memory whatsoever. I have a bit more success with the core though. 540MHz seems to be stable, and 550MHz also seems to last for awhile.

I used ATI Tool to push the overclock on mine and it worked fine. The ram initially went as high as ~615, but then quickly dropped back down due to artifacting. This Sammy 1.6ns ram gets HOT running this fast, and I think most of the artifact problems with ramspeed are related to this.

Maybe I should up my vAGP to 1.65v and see whether it helps. I'll also put some Microcool ramsinks on one side of the board. I'll let you know later tonight whether this worked.

AGP voltage doesn't do anything for card overclock, just to let you know. It really only helps total system stability when aiming for uber FSB's.
Ramsinks can certainly help this memory, and so can a voltmod to the VDDQ line as I recall...
