Not pro, not XT, just basic 9600.

Comes stock at 324 core, 195 memory.

I just OC'd it to 428/270 with a CPU hsf attached to the card with silicone adhesive.

Got a 3228 on 3DMark03, which is pretty respectable considering the fact that its a ****-ass card stock.

I'm just wondering why when I play America's Army, which is a dx8 game and isn't really all that graphix intensive, even when I set it to 800x600 with fairly low detail, when I'm outdoors my FPS drops to like 15-20, while my 9700 Pro (OC'd to 420/365) doesn't even drop under 65 at full detail, full AA/AF, and 1024x768.

Is it THAT big of a jump between the two? When the 9600 is indoors I get around 50-60 which is kinda what I expected at that detail level, but outside...yeech.

Any suggestions?

9600 only has 4 pipelines while the 9700 Pro has 8 pipelines so it should always have much better performance. I am shocked at your 3dmark 03 score, my card stock scores 3300 (3700 OC'd), but my system is my cards bottle neck so aint much I can do about it until xmas though.

I understand that it should have much better performance, but I'm just amazed at exactly HOW much better. I didn't realize the difference was, 9600 Pro (which is basically what I have now) can't even play America's Army at low res, low detail, no AA/AF properly, while a 9500 non-pro (which I had before my 9700 Pro) can play it high detail, medium res, some aa/af.

Something still seems wrong here.
