Ok i just lost my whole post last time i tried this cause i wasnt logged in even though i just did hehe.. crap..

I picked up my new 1.4 AMD Tbird this weekend at a local computer show. i was hopping for atleast 1550-1600..

First boot was at 1550... Little agressive i know :) but when you see the number code you'll know why! hehehe Next boot i tried 1575 and it was like is that all ya got? So i siad ok mr. i went 152x10.5 on him and he said "NEXT!" so i was getting really excited! :) I mean i was jumping around really....LOL! Well if you had a AXIA only AMD chip from back when and it would'nt go past 1400 and after doing a terrible job lapping and was stuck at max 1350 for months...... heh.. Yeah i'm happy already..But i went higher..

I went ok. slapped it at148X11= 1628 and still stable with Prime95 for a half hour.. Then i went 149X11 and used 1.82 and on the IWILL its 1.92 volts.... Stable... hehe hell yeah.. It started to seam that as long as it had enough juice to get into windows it was gona be stable.. :)

So it was like am i gona find the bottom of this chip? I went 150X11= 1650... didnt make it into windows fully.. So more voltage... I went the max that i could select on the IWILL 1.85 which is 1.95.... bam it went and loaded windows 98SE fully this time. Yup you guessed it STABLE!!! That the speed at which i'm buring the chip at right now from last night.. Prime 95 stable still as i write this.

Last night i tried to go higher then 1650 but nope.. I was at 150x11 and if i tried 151x11 it wouldnt even get as far as loading windows... I then went 138x12= 1656 and it made it! hehe.. stable 2.. But i wouldnt want to run it at that for long.. It was pretty clear this baby wants more voltage...which will take a voltage mod and i'm gona have to find that info but also get me a better H/S and maybe a bigger P/S first.

Heres the chip info

AMD Athlon
A1400 AMS3C
AYHJA "0130"EPGW<---- week 30
"Y" "666"3730491 <---- sign of the devil
@@ 1999 AMD

I'm using a ThermoEngine (Old version, hallow) BLACK with a DELTA fan.. The fan is on SUCK mode...I also have modded 4 smaller fans on the heatsink... 1 on each side of the h/s blowing in to help cool all sides...

an Enhance ATX 350 WATT P/S (with 5 volt mod on m/b)
220 WATT Max load

right now with 1.95 volts the 5 volt rail is at 4.78-4.81 full load and 4.84 Idle

Chip at 1650 is at 89 F or 32C max load after all night of burning in and still is...hehe.. System temp of 78 F or 26C ....

After all of this yesterday me and by buddie went back to buy him the same chip from the same batch.. There was lots of them.

That's a killer O'clock. So, you are gonna do a voltmod to that board?

Yeah i will eventually if i find out where the link is on the how-2.. :)

But i think a better H/S would help cool more at those higher 2+ volts..

Thanks fello Killer! :D

Yeah i'm extremely happy! only had 1 AMD chip before and it was kinda of a dud.. 1.2 AXIA Y at 1400 max but was running it at 1350 for months cuase i lapped it bad. I will never lap another CPU again. Been dying for something new ever since and i finally was able to buy a new baby!

Was really scared though with all the crap i have heard about the 1.4 with many people saying they couldnt get 1.6...and after reading a post from a guy saying that the newer weeks sucked and cant get 1550...

i feel extremely lucky!

Bah I have a:
A1400 AMS3C
AYHJA 0126UPEW
Y65409****6

and just overclocked it to 11x150 running perfectly stable at a load temp of 47C. I plan to try and hit 1700 by the weekend.

And this is with air cooling.

dborden man.. I'm at 31 C right now full load...still burning in since last night.. System temp is 25... Thats even at 1.95 volts.

I wont go water cooling if i dont have 2.. hell i've been talking about doing water cooling for over a year and seem to never move on the subject. But with this total modded case i got a real great plan using dual radiators and pumping them full of cool air from the case exhaust.. Would look sweet but cost me a pretty penny i dont have right now. So air cool is all i get to play with for now.

But if you dont want to bust that chip in before you plan on uppin to 1700 air cooling.. i hope you dont fry it. I'd plan on backing up the registry first and maybe making a ghost image of your C drive.. just to be safe..

Good luck.

I just don't understand teh temps that somepeople get.....

I have a nice lian li pc12 case with 2 50cfm front fans sucking in and 1 50cfm fan blowing out. I have an sky mounted perfectly on the die with AS2 and I have a pci slot fan and bay fan and my MB temps show 34-37C and my processoror temps vary from 37-47c. How the heck do you people get such low load temps with the same setup as me?

better air flow... You would get better results prob with 2 fans blowing out like your front. On my other case i got the same 2 huge AC powered fans blowing in as i do blowing out.. nothing but a nice huge wind current blowing right threw the case.. Straight shot too.. The tall tower case that i use on the 2nd computer i have the top and bottom space blocked off from eachother so the air goes stright threw front to back and separate air flow on top for the drives and P/S..

I will also say that i have a nice heatsink mounted on the back of the motherboard right behind the CPU... I cut that H/S to fit the small area.. I have also modded up a fan to blow on it as well.. actually 2 fans stacked hehehe.. So on my setup the air will also come in begind the motherboard and then straight down to the front of the case {Edge of M/B} and right out up the case and out..

you need to see some pics.... but i dont have any pics of the back H/S..

Heres the fans that i use for cooling...they suck all the air right out of the top of the case.. Air comes in from the back bottom and over the goods..

Heres where the air enters in the rear....

heres a pic of my CPU with all the fans on it...and the red light is on so its kinda hard to see...sorry

Heres a pic of my modifed MSI Geforce 2 Pro 64MB......

Check out the heatsink i fit on the back of the GPU...

Heres an adea of what it looks like....but the insides have changed much.... I got rid of the hanging hard drive plexy walls and the wooded light box above and mounted the main P/S inside top... Will have to take some newer pics soon with my buds new Digital camera... These are like 6 months old or more hehe..

it dont look that ugly anymore since these are old pics.. More at my web page.... But i have changed it some and got lots of ideas with future water cooling and an air filter and stuff... When its all done i'll go get it air brushed... Then i'll post some pics hehe. Should turn some heads then.

I was about to say that if you're using the mobo temp probe your temps could be high 30's, but you've clearly got some pretty mean aircooling going there. I still think the mobo temp probe is likely being fooled by all the airflow around the socket, but your real temps could still be as low as mid 30's (unless maybe you just have really low ambient temps). Nice cooling, and nice oc!

Thanks for the reply.. Yeah i was hopping to atleast get a more accurate temp from that socket probe with the back m/b H/S... Figured if i helped take some of the heat out of that socket area it would get a more real temp of that CPU..

Either way if its doing something or not it droped the temp about 10 Degrees off the CPU temp..

i'm planing on grabbin either a SK6 or a water block if i feel the need bad enough hehe....

So the temp should drop more and i might beable to get 1700-1800+......

Crossing fingers..
