Is it possible to install XP on one machine then transfer the hard drive to another machine. Will it load? Just curious!

if the motherboards are different .. it will just run like pure crap lol .. unless then machines are identical i wouldnt do it

you cant replace the primary HDD that your OS resides on but you can plug it in as a secondary drive and retrieve files off of it...this comes into play when your main system goes down (power suppply or something goes bad) then you can take the HDD and plug it in as a secondary drive and have access to files you need to get to finish a report or something..

It works. It doesn’t work. I have seen it both ways on drive changed MB & hardware using both XP and its older brother: 2K. XP does seem to have a better success rate, and it doesn’t seem to be unpredictable. The only way to see is to try it out, but don’t forget to back it up. Almost always it’s not entirely clean in that you may have some reinstalling to do.
