I'm noticing the same thing Coolbits and/or NVMax are not working w/ my Visiontek card. Gotta dwnld powerstrip and give that a shot. But, I am noticing that a flicker/fade issue that I was seeing before is gone.

What kind of video card do you have to get that kind of score? I can barely creak over 3000 with my GF2 Ultra! (And this is after resolving a driver problem that prevented my card from achieving a score of more then 550.)

youve got something wrong there, i make 2500 on a MX with a celeron!

Yeah, tell me about it... You have any suggestions for me?

Like I said, I already had a problem before, where I couldn't get more then 550 3DMarks. I used a 4 in 1 package from AMD's website (The VIA 4 in 1 wouldn't work), and it helped ALOT, getting me up to ~6000, but even setting the res low (I usually do all my testing using the default benchmarking settings) at 640 x 480, I can barely achieve 6200.

make sure AGP is at 4x i get abot 3000 with AGP at 1x (all my board will do), maybe the drives issue is not resolved? completely

How can I check to see my board is at 4X? I know the difference between 2X and 4X is barely noticiable, like 50 3DMarks.

I've looking in BIOS, and there's nowhere to set the AGP speed, just the AGP aperature size, which I already have at 128MB (Optimal for my system).

I dont think I want to trust the status on the Adapter page id display properties, because... well, I just dont trust it. I dont understand what else the problem could possibly be.

One thing to note about these new drivers is...they don't like it when fastwrites is enabled. I was running the 12.90's, uninstalled the drivers like I normally do...and installed the new XP drivers. I then set up the drivers like usual and ran 3DMark01...only for it to lock up hard and present me with a BSOD.

I'm running the newest Nvidia reference BIOS for my card, so I thought that might be the problem. I re-flashed the card with the latest Leadtek BIOS (which disables fastwrites by default), uninstalled and then re-installed the XP drivers. This time 3DMark completed, but 300 points lower than my usual score with the 12.90's and with screen tearing and flashing.

Well, after a couple of hours of trying to figure out what the problem was...I finally determined that fastwrites needed to be disabled in the BIOS. The reference BIOS enables sidebanding, which the new drivers don't seem to mind. The reference BIOS also enables support for fastwrites, the Leadtek BIOS doesn't.

So I'm back to using the reference BIOS, just with fastwrites disabled.

AWESOME! It says AGP is at 1X!!! lol I know I shouldn't be happy I have a problem, but I'm damn happy that now I know what that problem IS!

How can I up the AGP speed? One would think it would be highest as a default... but it's not.

As far as I know (from the manual, which I still have) it says the mobo is 4X

Try reinstalling your 4-in-1 package. At least with the VIAs when it comes to the AGP drivers, it's something like "normal" and "turbo." Turbo of course being the one you want.
