I'm looking to build a file server - currently looking at an Asus P5GDC-V Deluxe (http://www.asus.com/products/mb/socket775/p5gdc-v-d/overview.htm) and a s775 Celeron 2.66 (all of which are E0 steppings). Will currently use a PCI SATA-150 RAID 5 controller, but will hopefully switch to a PCIe SATA-300 NCQ RAID 5 controller when they become available (in the 16x PCIe slot).

Anyways, back to the question... I was hopping to drop the voltage and back the FSB down to 100 (20x100=2ghz) to keep it as quiet (and power friendly) as possible. Anybody tried underclocking a Prescott? How low can you drop the voltage?

I know this isn't exactly the right forum but I'm open to alternate suggestions for motherboards as well. Preferably onboard video, onboard PCIe gigabit, and at least a PCIe 8x slot available for a PCIe RAID card.

hmm... i dont think u would need to drop the volts that much to make it silent....
