View Full Version : getting prescott, what m/b?
my friend is getting a new system, and wants the 3.2 prescott, what m/b would be the best for it, also price may be an issue so the most expensive is not needed,, i used ic7-3-max and ic7-g on some other friends systems, but was wondering if anythng new came out since then that is better now....
I would suggest an Abit IC7-G motherboard. It tends to o/c better than the Max 3, and that has also been my findings as well. After my last Asus board (P4C) i tend to be a little bias towrds Abit, so keep that in mind :p

Asus P4C800-E Deluxe or IC7. They have beefy capacitors :). But, if you go with the P4C800, make sure to Vmod it, it drooops bad.

Asus P4C800 is def. a great board for the prescott because it can handle the volts.

Make sure you sink the mosfets on the board, or the board is likely to get a 'little' :p hot as you crank up the vcore. :)
my friend doesnt plan on overclocking the board only the vid card he will be using, so i wont be mod'ing his board at all, so looking for a m/b that doesnt need mods..
He'll o/c it at some point, assuming you're a good friend :p
