my dvd problems

i got my dvd with my lite on 8x dvd burner. its been working great up until i did a fresh install of windows. before i install i was had the burn speed up to 8x cuz im using 8x media. now i dont have the option of setting the speed to a number. now it just says min, mid, max in the speed window. i have all the updates for it and im not sure if i need to change something in the settings. before i didnt change anything but either way i would like to change back to the number system cuz it burns faster that way. it would burn a full dvd in 7 to 8 minutes but now it takes like 15 to 20 minutes.
