Why does it take like 40 hrs for 1wu. I am using the system below
Definitely the network card - that's got to go :p
Seriously though it could be a very low angle range work unit, and/or combination of other factors. Are you using the computer for other stuff while Seti is running?

Edit: If you are not running the clc and want to here are the direct downloads you need Windows CLC (ftp://ftp.cdrom.com/pub/setiathome/setiathome-3.03.i386-winnt-cmdline.exe), Seti Spy (http://pages.tca.net/roelof/setispy/SetiSpy.exe), Seti Driver (http://www.wakeassoc.com/setidriver/SETIDriver.zip) and here are the instructions (http://overclockers.ws/seti/Instr1.htm) you need to follow to get them up and running.
That sure sounds slow compared to what others are getting.... If you ARE running the graphical client, do you tell the screen saver to run without blanking the screen? If you are, that is most definatly the problem. The solution is to tell it to blank at 0 minutes, or download the CLC version. But if you like the graphical, as long as you don't look at the graphics a lot, it isn't too much slower than the CLC.
A low AR could also be the problem. Though for 40 hours, it would have to be some killer angle range! Ummmmmm have you been doing anything CPU intensive? That could do it....
Just be thankfull it isn't as slow as the pentium 90 I have doing WUs... 80 hour WUs average!

My 1st wu was around 38 hours using the screen saver version and had been running games or whatever at the same time. I then realized that it was way to high and figured out that i should use CLC version and only run it by itself while monitor was set to shut down. I get way better times now.

Well if you check out the shuttle ak31 you will see that is does ddr w/ 4way
Yeah, I think I am running the screen saver version. Thanks for the info basher
I do other stuff while running seti but not most of the time. I just thought it should be running much faster than that.
I have to have the network card. Or else I can't get on the net

Sweet! I hope Epox figures out how to do that! (Preferably in BIOS so I don't have to get a new board. :))
I foyu are running the screensaver goto you display proerties and then to screensaver click on the settings and make sure that it is set to goto blank screen after 1 minute. This is most likely your problem.

This might sound dumb but...
How do I get it to start another work unit?
Thelemac
09-16-01, 09:31 PM
It *should* automatically start the next one. If it doesn't, you could try restarting Driver...
If that doesn't work, or if you have to do it again, post back and we'll try to figure it out. :)

I tried closing the seti stuff and then restarting it but it just stays idle
what did you set your cache at? make sure it is above 1

OH!
Make sure that the seti client is still in the folder. That sucker has gotten magically deleted several times from some of my systems. Really, *REALLY* irritating.
