Converting wma files into MP3 files

Hi again!
Sorry to ask a dumb question, but how can I convert Windows Media Audio files to MP3? It seems I cannot do this from the WMP Reader itself. Is there a free software available on the Net for this?

Keep in mind that its generally a bad idea to convert from one format to another - sound quality cannot improve, and can definetly get worse.
