why can't i play hl:source

i bought the game from ncix.com

i can play cs:s, hl2 but when i try to installed HL:S that is currently in my 'Just released' section it tries to sell me hl2 all over again through steam...

do you need to have HL2 Gold to play it?

Gold or silver gets you it. Retail counts as bronze unless it's the collector's edition.

I havent checked to see how much they are wanting for HLs through Steam though.

well it wouldn't have been only 10 or 15 bucks more, i got it from wallmart and my bros gets a 10% discount so it came out to like can$61 total...

i've finished the game several times, just wanted to see what it looked like.... no worries...

i think half-life source is reaaly really good, but the source engine makes some parts of the game not work.
