View Full Version : Radeon le or MX400 64mb???
I am wondering what you guys would choose? A Radeon le?
Or a MX400 video card? Or should I just spend the extra 50 bucks and get the Geforce2 GTS 64mb card?

I have the Radeon Le and highly recommend it. Take a look at this review (http://www2.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1473).
I had a asus mx400 32 meg and sold it for a radeon le. The radeon was silky smooth with nhl2001 @ 1024*768 with all the details turn up(just make sure you o/c to aleast 166/166). the geforce card stuttered quite abit. So unless your gaming in low res 16bit, stick with the radeon. Not to mention, the radeon has dvd aceleration and great 2d image quality. Going from a le to a geforce 2 is your call. they're both great cards for the money. it whether or not you want to spend the extra $50.

One more question then, I tried out a Radeon VE, and the drivers sucked, lol. Do they work better on the LE? I hope so, cause I am about to go to Newegg.com and buy the LE card. What drivers do you use?
The ve is not in the same class as the le. The le is much faster. Anyways, I use the official driver version 7075 for win me and the beta drivers version 7.55-010523b-546e in win 2000. the beta driver in win 2000 are a lot faster then the official drivers. 2400 compared to 1400 in 3dmark2001. No stability problem either. But I don't play games in win 2000 so I don't know how stable they are for gamming. Make sure you install radeon tweaker and enable hyperz the program also lets you overclock too.
go for the LE man, it kicks A...
well, mine beat the GTS with the same processor. Mine is overclocked to 186mhz (GPU/Mem) and HyperZ is enabled. just some tweak and you got yourself a regular Radeon DDR.
I purchased the Radeon ddr version off of www.newegg.com for 71 dollars last night, it was about 8 dollars cheaper that the le version with chipping figured in. The only hitch is that there is no T.V. out on it, but I wouldnt use that anyhow, so what the heck huh. Dont have to run the registry hack now. The crappy thing about buying it last night is that with what went on this morning in New York and D.C. I probably wont recieve my card till next week sometime.:(
