Hi there, I am too looking to get one myself, and like you I am undecided which one to get.

What do you think of the Huappage WinTV

I use the Win TV Tuner capture card by Happaugge and it meets my needs, there is better but for more $$. Mine only cost $50 canadian (bout $32 US)

I first bought my Hauppauge WINTV PCI back in 1998. That card still works EXCELLENT and always has. Last year I gave it to my parents and bought the PCI theatre with the 6-speaker surround. Hauppauge has excellent customer service, wonderfully built hardware and above average driver support.

Hauppauge has been in the business for a while and they are my strongest recommendation...

P.S. I hear the USB versions are stinky, stick with the PCI cards...

i got a question, i too have been considering a tv tuner card...

But i do not have cable, but i will be getting it soon...

Anyways, i have the Sound Blaster Audigy with external drive bay..
it has video inputs and outpust
If i had a VCR conencted to it, could i get just tv from the built in tv tuner inside the vcr???

Would it take any special software...

i also have a S_Video on my Video card

thanks...

I see what you're saying and your ideas are intriguing but first and foremost you need:

1.) An s-video IN on the back of your video card (Most are s-vid OUTs)

2.) An s-video OUT on the back of your VCR to go TO your video card

3.) really excellent video card drivers because I would have not the foggiest idea what software would accept a video-in feed on your vid card...

Can't hurt anything to try that before you spend the bucks on a TV tuner, specially if you don't have the moola...

Remember what you are losing by doing this though. Wierd issues with what sound channels go where, only able to change channels from the VCR (which used to be a good thing till hauppauge started included remotes), and probably won't be able to capture video or resize or anything with the s-vid feed from your vcr.

Try it, let us know!

i see what your saying..

The video card only has Video-out
