Should I hold out on upgrading to a Radeon 9800 Pro? I have had my eyes on one for a LONG time, and I am not sure if I should wait for the next release! :bang head
Hi, and welcome to the forums!
Now the X800 is out the 9800 is probably going to be around about as good a price as it will get. I'm not sure when ATi will release their next wave (although the X850 is out now, no?).
Have you looked into the 6600GT and 6600NU?
Just to keep your options open.

Did you mean 6800nu?
Hey you may as well check out TigerDirect.ca's special on the card. It's on until the end of the week I think:

After taxes and shipping it should come to a total of $300. Plus this card will equal or beat the 9800pro lots of the time. Even the 9800xt so I would put that card at the top of your list.
If you are willing to shell out more cash, check out the 6800nu's.

Difference between the X800 and 9800 Pro? (Not quite up to speed on the matter yet)
x800 is in most cases double the speed of 9800pro, it will depend on which one it is se,pro,xt, or xtpe.

get a 6600GT AGP. They r a drop faster than 9800XTs. the 6800NU isnt a bad idea either but in a few months, those cards will be discontinued. I could have got a 6800NU but I didnt want a card discontiuned and I upgraded 2 a gig of ram with the card. how much ram do u have? If only 512 u may want to try a 9800NP and softmod to a XT with a VGA silencer. MY friend did that. Its the best now!

Gatta love the 5 time post... Hehe
What difference does it make if the card is discontinued. They are actually stopping production on that card because it it too expensive to produce. You get a hell of a card for the money and a vast majority mod to 6 vertex pipes and a large portion even open the other pixel pipes. Dont get me wrong the 6600GT is a great card, but the 6800NU is better, except when it comes to HD media files.
