DS or PSP?

I am currently deciding on this, what to get? I love nintendo's games, plus I think more people will get DS = more people to play with, but the PSP is a lot better hardware wise, at least so far as I've seen. What kind of games will be on the PSP? Can I buy an extra battery for it?(heard it's battery life wasnt great)
