I am looking at buying a leadtek A300/FX5800 and I am wondering if any here have flashed the bios to an ultra? leadtek makes an ultra but it is a my vivo (video in /out) the basic A300 does not have vivo. My question is if I flash a reg A300/fx5800 to the ultra will it mess it up since it does not have the vivo guts or will the bios just ignore it since it is not there.
thanks

you do not need to flash the bios...just oc it to the ultra speeds....just got the a300td myself and it's been good so far...

Is that possible? I have read that the new drivers from invidia prevents overclocking by monitoring the heat of the gpu and if it gets very much over normal it starts to slow down the clock cycles to cool the card, your card shows to be overclocked but acutally it is not running much faster than normal because of the drivers. I believe that is the main reason for the 5950 bios flash for the 5900 so that the drivers dont slow the gpu down beacuse of heat from overclocking

yeah but i don't oc the card very much and i thought i read somewhere that if you use older drivers, it won't do it but i'm not sure...either way..the card runs pretty good for being so trashed by everyone....
EDIT: it wasn't "older drivers," it was this:
---The "clock throttling" issue may be a factor in the older 50-series Detonators also, but I cannot verify. Basically what this means is that the drivers will clock the card down under certain conditions, eg. running warm. It became a real problem in the 60-series drivers as the card would downclock while running 3D apps. fairly consistantly- even casual gaming. The "fix" is to install Rivatuner, and allow overclocking of the "low power 3D" mode. Simply set this mode to the same value as the "regular" 3D mode and that will prevent the throttling.---
haven't tried myself yet but we'll see.
