Now I have s478 P4 Prescott 3,2Ghz C0 on the EPoX 4PCA3+ rev2.2 but it seems the board have problems when I want to go over fsb250 I have hit fsb273 for once, but that's only cause of luck... (I've tried several other cpu's too - 2,8c and 3,0c the same fsb...)

What I'm looking forward is - board for this CPU, on which I could get stable to fsb280-fsb300... is there any board out there to do that?

I was looking forward to the ASUS P4C800 E-Deluxe or Abit IC7 Max3... but the question is - which one is the best, and which revison? Just want to be sure to get the right board to OC' even if it needs modifications...

Sucka

Abit IC7-G (Max 2) is better than the Max 3. Same basic board minus OTES and a few sata ports, only thing is, the max 2 has better power managment. The P4C800-E is a good board, but without mods it droops a lot. I had a P4P800, and a P4C800 at one time, didn't care for Asus myself, but they are great boards none the less. But my vote goes to Abit IC7-G

Read through the CPU thread regarding 3.2 Pressy's, you'll fine some good info, and how each setup is doing on a particular board.

Hmmz... ok, I'll try to find out if can get one of these Abit IC7-G Max2 boards here... Does it need to mod a lot to get my P4E C0 3,2 over 4Ghz?

Modding any board doesn't hurt. And you'll find that people are having more success passing that elusive 4.0GHz mark on these boards. And even easier on a modded board. Mine boots windows at 4.1, and is pretty stable at 4.0, but i run it at 3.95 daily for maximum stability. This is all done on air, IC7-G

So the situation is like this:

I can't get here the Abit IC7-G Max2, but only Abit IC7 Max3 and Abit IC7-G :(

Which one of these will be better for my needs?

If I remember correctly the IC7-G max2 is just a version 1.1 IC7-G. Unless it's been on the shelf collecting dust for a year, most IC7-G mobos will be the later version. If it has the newer round blue orb looking N/B cooler with radial fins, you'll be ok. You also might wanna look at the Prescott cooling link listed in my signature.

Ok but which one of these are better choice to go on with? The IC7-G or IC7 Max3? Seller say's that both of them are latest revision...

Ok I'll have the IC7 Max3 next week - then I'll see how far I'll get with that board :)

you getting rid of that modded epox ? I have one and i love mine... Although its not as good as the rev2.0 version i had previously.. only thing i've found its lacking is mem volts :( and the fact you have to use a really old bios to run prescotts with higher CPU Volts..

Was the Mod easy ?

No I'll not get rid of that - that'll work on my second PC...

Yeah - this rev2.2 really sucks if you want to get really high... :( But with newest BIOS it get's more stable at lower speeds... fsb235Mhz - rock stable ;)

The mod was really easy especially on this rev2.2 :)

How high did you get on your board? Mine had a really big problems to get over fsb250Mhz - no matter what cpu I used...

I'm at 300fsb - The board has issues with high NB volts though.. the 2.0 was a much better board IMO.

What CPU you have, and any mods? I can't get past 270fsb... and now the limit is fsb250Mhz...

i would say the abit as well except one thing! it doesnt support cpu lock free! while your C0 stepping 3.2 processor does!!! you should definatly go with a asus motherboard!!!

abit unlocked boards

asus unlocked boards and list of compatible processors
http://www.asus.com/news/2004/20040921.htm
in this list of compatible processors they dont mention that only the 3.2 C0 stepping 478 pin processors will work. not the D0stepping. most of the 3.2 processors sold right now are D0 stepping so if you plan on using the unlock feature on a 3.2 you buy dont count on it working. just go with the 3.4 and up they all work

I've got my Abit IC7 Max3 now - and with latest bios I can change multiplier min/max in my case 16 or 14 :) That's kind'a nice :)

Anyway - I can't get much over ~fsb260 with x16 :(
With x14 I did 14x300... but with errors ir memtest86...

Where could be the problem, if it comes to errors in memtest86 test No7 ? That was the problem with EPoX and is now with Abit...

well first off you need to give the ram all the voltage your board has to offer. i think yours maxes out a 2.8 whereas the ram you have could use 2.95 with a big fat smile on its face according to thier tech support

however. your ram is only rated to run with a top speed of 266fsb with 3-4-4-8 memory timings. and that is with 2.8-2.95 according to thier tech support.

so since you are limited there you have only a few options. get a booster, do the mod that im sure exists to let you give the ram a higher voltage.. but to be fair you should probly test out the memory at 266 with a 14 muti

ddr533 with 3.72ghz is how should i say...rather admirable, quite fast as well as a pretty overly decent overclock. id say try to get it stable with the 266 and the lowest vcore voltage possible and you are set with a computer that has many oc'in fans that are stuck with thier locked cpu and their fsb at 225-240 with thier ram running at 460ish needless to say green with envy. if i were you id love to have some gskill4400 that runs up to 550 at only 2.6 vdimm. but yeah. if you insist on that extra umph you could always get i booster i guess... tho id save your money for the next gig of ram running at that nice 533 speed people pay 1050 some bucks for the 3.46EE processor that runs 533. and here you got it for what 230$ gj!

2.4C m0

It used to run 3.6 Easily on my rev 2.0 - but this rev 2.2 really struggled getting there.. I'm watercooled..cpu/nb.. no mods to motherboard, running a very old bios.

However in the past few days, my clock has dropped to 292fsb.. Tried cpu in mates ai7 and it ran at 3.6 easily prime stable.

So prolly this motherboard on way out... I Have a rev 2.0 with possibly a faulty bios chip..i dont have the stuff to work out whats up w/ it tho..

So my old "LOVELY" epox board is sat around :(
