Kingmax Tiny-BGA PC150 -
Strange results on VIA VT6X4 MB (Apollo Pro 133/133A)
I tested 2 of the Kingmax 256mb PC150 chips yesterday.
The sticker on the DIMM says:
MPJB63S-68KX3
P180249.01 MAA
PC-150 256MB
The chips each have this on them:
KINGMAX
KSV684T4A2A
-06
Perhaps these results are due to my
mb's chipset.
At 150fsb, the Kingmax worked great
at either cas2 or cas3. Stable in UT ect.
The speed was just a little better than
my Crucial/Micron ram at the same settings.
Tested with SiSoft Sandra 2001 Standard on Win98.
All tests with 512mb installed. (2 of each chip)
fsb Crucial Micron
150 cas2 426/498 427/529
150 cas3 402/490 406/502
I was hoping for a better increase,
but the board is maxed out I think...
I will be trying the Kingmax soon on an
814ep based board. I think it should go
above 150 with no problems.
I was going to test the Kingmax in this
board at 133 and 140fsb settings, but this
is where it gets weird.
Windows will not load with this memory in at
speeds lower than 150fsb.
I attempted 3 or 4 times each at 133 and 140
with both cas2 and 3 set.
Either got BSOD with fatal exception #6 or the
"Windows protection error" message.
Now it gets even stranger...
I was able to get the attached image created
with 1 chip of each in before it locked up.
This is from Sandras MainBoard info, memory
module section.
The Crucial/Micron DIMM is detected OK.
The 2nd DIMM is the Kingmax. Sandra
tells me it is a generic PC133/PC100 chip.....?
What gives ?
