I think that in respect to the tradgedy that happened in America today, I think that we shouldn't run SETI tonight. I know I wont. I know the team and SETI is most of you people's life, but I just think that it would be a pretty noble thing to do, just my opinion, disregard it if you would like.

I guess I don't see how not running a program that benefits mankind shows respect for such a tragedy. The best way to show your respect is to help out in anyway that you can...give blood or whatever. The important thing is not to give the enemy a victory by letting it unreasonably disrupt our everyday lives. Obciously there is some disruption (I think that pretty much the entire country is shut down for today) but to perpetuate it beyond what is appropriate only gives the enemy what he wants.
Don't let the madness go to your head...keep it cool.
Realistic outlook on this tragedy. (http://www.overclockers.com/tips637)

With no disrespect intended Billy - but shutting off Seti would be an invisible moratorium to the tragedy in America. Your heart is in the right place - and the hearts of Americans needs to be very visable. Thelemac has a point - this whole thing was about crippling a nation - shutting us down.
A great way to show respect for the victims, would be to do something visable - donate blood, money, time or anything that would benefit the victims of this cowardly attack.
This country is called the UNITED States - and Unity is what is right for this situation - very visable Unity.
