hi guys ive been recently messing around with the settings of my geoforce fx 5700 from the nvidia panel , increasing the image quality, anistropic settings and things like that and everything seemed fine on the desktop, when viewing images and in games too. i then updated the driver to the latest win xp/ 2000 66.93 from nividia.com , and again everything looked fine however i then wanted to watch a dvd and realised it was in black and white! i then went back to my collection of other videos in mpg , avi, vob, mov and all other video media files and realised that they are all black and white which they never were from before. i have gone back to the nivdia panel and tried resetting all back to default , i also rolled back the driver but i still have this problem , this is due to myself stupidly following an online tweak guide for the fx5700

how do i fix this problem? thank you.

Well,This never happened to me before but I would start by reinstalling the display drivers then reinstall the dvd decoder or program. If you get bad 3d performance after reinstalling the display drivers make sure to reinstall your motherboard chipset drivers.
Good luck.

thanks sorted, reinstalled the driver that had to be done by :

going to control panel > system > hardware > display adapter > fx 5700 > uninstall.

restart the pc , search for the driver and install.

simply running the older driver installer did not work.
