Hi, I can't get the Intel CSA Gigabit LAN working on my Abit IC7-G motherboard. I am using windows xp home and it doesn't even detect the LAN.
Does anyone have any ideas? Plzzzzz help!
Welcome.
You should be able to just auto play the included Abit software disk and then select the driver installation for that. Try that first cause that chip isnt detected by XP.
If that dont work: Couple things ,you must have this enabled in the BIOS. That board does have an option to disable and enable the on board lan. It will be under the intergrated peripherals then OnChip PCI device. When you say XP dosent detect that, that is usual for that device, board. What you have to do if it is indeed enabled in the BIOS(which it is by default) is to right click on my computer, then manage, then device manager. Look in your device manager for the network adapters. Expend that if necessary and you should see some yellow indicating that there is a problem. From there just hit properties and update your drivers using the location on the disk that has them-the Abit MB disk. If you dont have the drivers go to the intel site. If you need a link to the drivers just post back.
If there is no indication of network adapter in the device manager then just do a add hardware scan and when it finds nothing just manually select network adapter and navagate the installation to the location of the driver(Abit disk)
Hope this helps.

As turd said, you need to install the drivers for the network before Windows will recognize the card. I have the same board, and the device won't appear until you use the Abit CD and install the stuff on it. If that still doesn't work, you could try using another computer to download the latest drivers from Abit and try those instead. Anyways, good luck!
yea as stated above, install the drivers, then check the bios.
Definately check the bios to see if the LAN port is turned on.

I have the same problem. I need to get this network adaptor working so that I can give my laptop all my stuff and so that it can use the internet through this computer.
I say that I have disk, and I select the driver, and then it gives me a big selection of different adaptors and tells me to select mine, I select the only thing that says gigabit, since I know that's what I have, but it doesn't work.
It says its unable to startup. And its not in my BIOS, I looked. It has everything in there, FDD, IRDA, USB, ect.... but nothing about my LAN controller, it's weird.
I really need to get this working... Any suggestions?
I think abit should have done a better job making a simple little .exe file you click on and it installs it all for you. This plain out sucks. :(
Here is a link to a .exe that will instal those drivers for you.
http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/download.asp?url=/6250/eng/pro_v8.0_65293_win2kxp.exe
Download that .exe and run it. Then navagate to the folder C:\program files\Intel Desktop Board\APPS\SETUP\SETUPBD\W98-WS32
and run SetupBD.exe
that should do it for you
Edit: Wooooa just relized you cant download that, you will have to use a flash drive transfer or burn you a CD with that on it
I just dug out my drivers CD that came from Abit. What I think you can do is explore your CD and navagate to Drivers/lan/intell/pro1000/wsosxp32
and rclick on e1000325.inf and click on install

Yup, did that, but it asks me what device I have, I click on the only one that says gigabit, since that's what I think I have.....And it says it installs it, but it can't be started for some reason.
I think I'm going to buy a little 3com network card or something.
I had a mobo from chaintech do that to me with the onboard sound. The driver flat out wasnt on the disc and when I would dl the driver from thier website it wouldnt work either. There where numerous complaints on thier website and nothing was ever done about it as far as I could tell. Tech support just emailed me telling me to dl it from thier website. A viscious circle I tell you.
