Hello everyone.
Hope your having a good Dec.

I just bought a XFX 6600gt 128 meg card.
I've yet to run a game successfully. Every prog including 3dmark03. After loading up a game to the main screen the monitor goes black and the power indicator blinks. This usually happens after 10 seconds or so, this seems consistant. I've downloaded the latest mb drivers and a number of the latest nvidia drivers including the beta.
thank you for any input you can give me. :)

I'm running:

windows xp home edition
Asustec a7n8x deluxe
AMD 1837 mhz chip
1.3 gigs of ram ddr

I'm not sure which card someone had, but I think I remember someone having the same problem. The problem was that they had been so excited in getting their new card, that they forgot to plug in the molex from the power supply unit, so perhaps this is your problem? Just a easy thing worth checking..

My card didnt come with a separate power supply. The only cable is for the tv out. Two adapters for standard monitors are included. The manual doesnt show any power supply either. Maybe thats just for the pci versions.

think he meant a molex connector on the card, and a wire from your computer power supply attaches onto the card, the part insde your computer

'When stupid people post all replies most come with pretty shiny pictures.' :)

Thanks guys I'm up and running now.
You'd think the manual would mention this little detail.

Well, if anything the nvidia driver hardware sentinel will. Also, the install guide mentions hooking up the external power!

Minor oversight.... Happens to the best of em. I remember the ONE time i forgot to plug in the CPU fan, ya wanna know how long a cpu last's before it smokes without a fan on it?

If i remember right, about a minute to minute and a half....

...I fought to get the HSF on my current Celery when I first got this mobo/CPU. Me and my buddy fought, and I mean it took two of us, to get the lock down, then it didn't post. I was peaking. Then I realized that I didn't unlock the slot before dropping in the chip. I can't believe I didna break the chip, something should have let go, but here I am still using it. A very DOH!!! moment, heh... :bang head

Same thing happens to me sometimes especially when I was voltmodding my x800pro. But I kinda got used to the loud beaping sound it would emit when the molex wasn't connected. First time, it scared me pretty good though. :(

Maybe they should consider making something in the BIOS that won't let the card function at all unless the molex connector is in, might save some people some time. I know if I don't plug in the power to my old Radeon 9500 it starts beeping horribly and I know immediately whats wrong. But I guess the time (and money) to do that would be a bit superfluous to the GPU companies..

It's wierd because I have a BFG 6800nu and I won't even POST without the connector in... doesn't beep or anything, just won't POST.
