im buying 512x2 ddr400 sticks and an nforce3 s754 mobo with an 2800+ a64 processor. will my mobo automatically set it to dual channel memory? if not, how do i do it?
Socket 754 does NOT support dual channel, you will need a socket 939 for that. Sorry, out of luck there.

hmm.. will there be a drastic gaming performance difference between running normal 512x2 and dual channel mode?
On the socket A platform there isn't much of a difference between the 2, but on the A64 side I think it was said to be about a 10-12% difference. If you can I would really go with a 939 setup as socket 754 is destined to be the value market solution.

do all s939 mobos have dual channel support?
do all s939 mobos have dual channel support?
Yes, thats why they changed the socket. Unless you wnet for some wierdo cheap crap oem board or something with only one ram slot for example(not that I have seen any but who knows), all the good name brand boards are DC.

alright. well i was initially thinking about getting a s754 system with 1 gig of ram. i guess ill just go for s939 with 512, and buy the extra ram later. man this really complicates things =/
It is a little complicated, but you will thank yourself in the ned, if you wanted to upgrade it would have been new board and cpu again! Buying a stick of ram later on is much easier.
