View Full Version : Can someone Please HELP ME? I'm really frustrated now!!!
Guys this is my second day with my new board, chip and ram, which are the follows:
Abit KG7-Raid
Amd Tbird 1.4ghz 266 fbs
512 samsung 2100 DDRam
I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM!!!!!!
My cpu keeps going super "HOT", first i had a CoolerMaster CB5-5G12 and the temp was @ 65C AND UP!!! "IDLE" so i shutted down the system and went to get a new Heatsink today, I got a coolermaster DP5-6I31A and the temp is @ 50C IDLE!!
BUT THE WORST is that the cpu is not even at 1.4 i have it at 1.250 and the voltage is set at 1.75 :(
I even got a 400watt power supply today and nothing :(
I really dont know what to do! does anyone knows or can tell me what to do?
I havent even been able to use this crap cause it gets too hot, the lowest temp was 50C idle and not even at 1.4
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
I have never been too impressed with Cooler Master. I am using a Thermalright SK-6 and I got my temps down from an average low of 49-51 to 31-35c

I agree, the cooloermaster products are not top notch. I'm using a Millennium Glaciator. Keep in mind the Mobo may not be sending accurate temps! I have an Asus so thats been true for me.

I agree with the persons above, though, did u use a thermal compound? (goop)

I use Global WIN myself... they are noisy but they get the job done. :) Allso, remember you're thermal paste.

cooler master = garbage
get yourself something real......global win, glaciator, swiftech
some suggestions

The Global Win CAK38 is full copper with a delta on top I use one and it coools well, the SK6 is also a good buy, The Glaciator is good.
BUT DO NOT.....
Get An ORB.
They do not cool at all
"The ORB is huge and has to be modified to fit a KT7 board, size does matter but the actual cooling comes in the heatsink if you take the top fan off the ORB you notice that there is no surface area of the Heatsink actually over the core this is bad because you may as well have a bit of thin piece of aluminium and a fan for cooling. "
THere's a quote from my website telling you why you don't want an orb....
good luck

If I'm right CoolerMaster HSF's come with a 'thermal pad' (all the old ones did) You should remove that and use some thermal paste, you could also mount another fan (60x60x25 20+CFM) If you have one collecting dust. That will help a bit, but if you want to OC it you really should buy a better HSF.

if you are ocing buy a new heatsink, alpha global wins, glaciators, anything like that will work well
!!tio!!

Ok my advice
get a better heatsink and put more thermal grease.
And tell you 70C is normal for AMD CPU.
I am using Alpha Pal 6035 and it seems alright.

MeJa, buddy its ok, I have a 1.33 T-birdy and with a stock HS, it idled around 50C. I imagine the 1.4 runs a wee bit hotter than the 1.33. So its nothing to worry about.
**edit: oh and BTW, the KG7 temp sensor seems to be pretty accurate (Sisoft Sandra agrees with my MB)**
Just make sure you have:
1) A thermal compound (Arctic silver, radio hut stuff, ect..)
**Those themal pads SUCK**
2) Good contact with CPU
If you have done these two things and no progress, only thing I can think of is do what these guys have suggested, buy a better Heatsink.

get a new cooler, but do not get a super orb cooler, these lie, they do not cool, they are not super and the a celinder, not orb
I really appreciate it!!!
I've come to the conclusion of getting a Thermalright heatsink with a delta fan or a Global with a delta fan (checking prices now)
Again thx alot for your help and advices guys!

Those delta fans are extremly LOUD
Why donīt you get a Glaciator, it cools very well, and is also kind of quiet.
Just something to think about

That's funny:rolleyes: Thermaltake are not the best HSF out there but the DOrb3 Copper is pretty OK. The last time you asked me what HSF 'cause my temps were lower than yours & guess what I use a DOrb3 Copper. We all want Swiftys but if its not available then you have to go with whats there. Sometimes a lot of us forget that proper cooling is not just a HSF & case fans but for all the parts to work together in harmony. Has anyone asked MeJa about the room temps? You also need to factor that in.

I had a super orb and it was crap, I have never used the Dorb
but it cooled for you than thats good.
My case its pretty ventilated and as far as the power supply i have it outside the case as you guys can see on my picture. I have a total of 11 case fans inside the case wich keeps my video card, HDs and case temp at really nice temps, I know i dont need 11 case fans but i did it cause i wanted something kool
Now its been pretty hard for me to make up my mind cause of the loud fans and lots of noise its not good for teh place where i keep my pc (i'm currently not leaving at my own place ) but if the good stuff comes with noise i have no choise
If you have a similar cpu as mine and know what will work for me let me know
YOU PPL DID ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS !!!!
THANKS A LOT!

It looks pretty neat.
The pictures in the Post :(
Dont know how to paste the pics to the msgs it ask me for some stuff and i dont know.
Give me your Email address adn i'll send you some pics of my cases
Meja, nice work! that is a beautiful case, did you do the paint work yourself? I have an Sk6 with a Delta 38cfm and in my Lian Li
pc60 it's not that loud and I am getting very good results with it.
With the case cooling you have an SK6 should work great for you.
If the Sk6 doesn't float your boat an MC462A with an 80MM delta is about the best you can do with air cooling IMHO.
Randy
That case is just insane dude lol. Looks pretty nice though. Have you thought about ducting some outside air to the heatsink? You have enough fans already there, and all that you would need to do is get some automotive pipe duct and attach it to a fan and then over the heatsink. I saw a post on the OC's homepage where a guy did that and he got some excellent results. Might be worth a shot. Nice case and good luck to you.
Yea i painted and did all the mods to the case my self ( I had no job at the so i had all time to spend working on it :) ) Do you think you can get me a link on where can i get any of those HSF you mentioned? ;)
Thanks for the recommendations and if ever want some case mod tips let me know :)
Here's a picture of how my case was before the changes :)

WOW that case is tight! I got an Antec SX1030 .... It's like a blank canvas....
One other suggestion that you might want to look into before you actually buy something else... it wont hurt to say the least... Have you lapped the HS? I know it doesnt seem like much but believe me when I say I got the 1.2 Athlon and didnt lap the HS my temps were super high.... I lapped it and the temps literally dropped a good 8 degrees... Might not give such a good drop.. but whats it cost yea? hours worth of your time and the money for the sand paper... And might drop them enough for now...
Just my 2 coppers...

Looks good! I have the same case too. It is a great place to start. My avatar has a tiny pic I'll look for a larger one at home of the case in it's current state (or just take another). I water cooled my setup though, I hate noise!
O
Can you show me a picture of your watercool system ;)
Was it home made or you bought it from some where? if so i'll appreciate if you can get me a link :)
I"m currtently looking to get the Previous model of the Koolance watercool case for $140 (not bad i guess) but if i can get a watercool kit and use it and any case i want... I like that idea better ;)
Meja, I buy all my cooling stuff from www.1coolpc.com he sells the swiftech and the SK6 and a variation of the SK6 called the mighty machine, but I can't recomend the mighty machine it doesn't perform as well as the SK6 with the 38cfm Delta as the funell design is not conducive to good air flow and the Sunnon case80HO fan doesn't move enough air for the SK6 to perform to it's potential IMHO.

MeJa, go with watercooling, it is worth it, especially with high-end AMD CPUs. The faster AMD CPUs just put out so much heat, that trying to overclock one with aircooling is a no win situation. Aircooling an 80W+ CPU is like trying to ice-skate up hill.
Don't think of watercooling as an expense, think of it as an investment. You may end up swapping HSFs on a regular basis as CPUs, and CPU packaging standards, change. But with watercooling all you will ever need to change will be a $30, or less, waterblock.

I had the same exact problem with my 1.2 T-Bird.
When the problem finally got my attention, I opened the side case access and aimed a small personal fan into the cabinet. I saw the temperature drop to a safer but still high level. After days of searching site after site with info and reviews of heat sinks and fans, I decided the life of my processor was more important than the potential solitude of the cooler master I was using. The GlobalWin CAK38 droped my temps more than 20 degrees C. I was operating under load around 68 C. Now I'm at 42 C. at full load.
Everything you hear about the Delta 38 fans is true! They are loud, 7000 RPM will do that. However, they are extremely effective in reducing your CPU core temps. Bare in mind that you always have the option of reducing voltage to your cpu fan for quieter operation, its much harder to increase voltage.
In my humble opinion, the all Copper GlobalWin cak38 is a viable option for people who want an excellent heatsink/fan cpu cooling option.

I just wanted to add that you guys shouldn't argue about temps and such cause with any decent watercool system you can have temps 25-45 Celcius so as not have to worry about temps, and become more concerned with getting more core voltage and cooling the northbridge and stuff.
WATERCOOL YOUR PUPPIES!!!!
Why spend 50$ on a swiftech mcx370-0a when you could spend 90$ and get a leak proof watercooling kit?

It may sound silly, but did you lap your HS to make it flatter. I have a 1.33 w/watercooling, and I noticed a couple of degrees dropped when I lapped the waterblock. I'm sure you've already done this, but it can't hurt to mention it again. Also, try to make sure that nothing is in the way of the fans(intake). I realized this prob with my radiator, it was too close to the wall, when I moved it, I dropped another couple of degrees. Good luck in cooling.
I've decided to go for one of the water cool kits from becooling and (the one with the Cube readiator) My concern now is what dimmripper said about getting the 250 water pump. Like i've mentioned in some of my preivous post i know JACK about water cooling so i dont know anything about the pumps, i know the kit comes with a 180 water pump but if i have to i can request to get teh 250 one instead.
Another question are water cool systems any loud?
This is the one i've decided to go for http://becooling.safeshopper.com/3/55.htm?676 so if anyone has it and can tell me from experience about it i'll appreciate it ;)
Ohh! and yes the watercool kit would go into another full tower case :)
Thanks alot to all of you guys more than pretty usefull advices ;)

I have the Eheim 1250 from DangerDen and it pumps 317GPH. That's if you want something that strong. I have this on my sys and it's pretty quiet. Most of the sys noise comes from other fans that I have on providing circulating air through the case.
Ok that's good, as you can see i have lots of fan on my case and its pretty loud when i have most of them on :( but it keeps my system's temp really low :)
As far as the watercool system, thanks for the comment, I know dimmripper mentioned to get the 250 waterpump instead of the 180 one that comes with the kit! so i should be ordering the kit anytime on monday and as far as the case i'll be getting the exact same case as teh one i currently have (full tower)

Actually "dimmreaper" is derived from "grim reaper", also known as the angel of death. You see, in my pre-forum days, I burned up many a memory modual with too much VIO, also literally caught two voodoo2 cards in SLI mode on FIRE! I've killed my share of hardware, and then some ;)

now i know this has nothing to do with cooling, but iwas just wondering why you have the hitman logo, but no other reference to it. but i do have to admit, its a sweet case. and dont forget to post what your temps are after you put in the water cooling! ive been thinking about going to that but i really dont think i need it right now. well good luck, and sweet case. oh yeah can i ask if you have any sites that you go to, to get your modding info?
I put the Hitman logo cuase most of the ppl that mod their cases either put a square/circle/oval window or just use the Quake or UT logo and i wanted something differente, and ever since i've been into case moding i havent find a case with it, eventhough i have to mention i only play the game once to see what it was like :) (Just liked the logo)
When i started case moding i got most of the tutorials from www.virtualhideout.net wich i belive its been down for a while if not forever, it had everything from painting to led switch bays :) other than that i think http://www.hardocp.com/index.html has some tutorials and lots of links to other sites :)

Sorry for the delay here is a pic of my watercooled version of the same case as you have. I shoehorned in a 6" by 7" heater core for a radiator but now that I've seen your case with the power supply outside I will think about moving my PS outside and then putting in a different rad.

I believe VH had some problems with their ISP, they changed their URL to http://www.virtual-hideout.net/
Nice case BTW
Nice to see my case with a watercool system :)
Good job there and yea it'll be cool if you can take the PSU out and put a bigger radiator in there ;)
And yea it seems like they did have problems with their previous URL but the new site its pretty nice too :)

Thanks! I have actually changed it again since those pics were taken. I added another 120mm fan on the top. I glued three of the plastic 5 /14 drive covers together and then drilled a big hole above the CD, CDR, and DVD like the one in the bottom of the case. It runs pretty cool with the two 120mm fans, 35C Idle. I built a voltage regulator like Hoot did but with a smaller LM317 so I can run the Panaflo H series 120mm fans at a slower quiter speed and still get good cooling. I will probably relocate my three HD's to behind the upper 120mm fan. This case has a lot of good potential and I enjoy modding it. Maybe I'll even paint it a cool color like you did too someday...

I put my 120mm radiator behind a 120mm fan under my drive bays. it doesn't cool as much as "the cube" but it does the job and I was able to fit a whole watercooler with a reservoir in a midtower case.
