I run some gaves off the server I have sittting in my closet (not that you need to know where it is). Anyway, my buddy installed a HL2 server over remote desktop i guess. I guess it's out of date, cause it tells me to update it everytime I try to start it. From what I can tell, it doesn't have steam on it. Where can I get the updates for a steam free dedicated server? I browsed google for a few minutes, and didn't see it, but I could just be blind.

there should be a file called hldsupdatetool
if you can't find it, get it here
http://www.steampowered.com/download/hlds_updatetool.exe
then run that file and it will extract to a dir,
run the hldsupdatetool then from command prompt and you will have to put cases on the end, here's how mine looks
hldsupdatetool -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir c:\hlds2 -username yoursteamusernamehere@whaterver.com -password your password
the -dir switch will need to be to your installed directory (i think default is c:/hlserver
and you just hit enter after typing that in and it will update itself (by the way make sure the server isn't running)
