I installed a new blower for my cohesive cooling setup and have been able to bump up the voltage to 1.95!!! Now I have gotten to 1.61ghz stable at 1.89, and mostly stable at 1.85 with minor lock-ups only with Prime-95 torture test. I am gonna wait and see if these temps will stay below 40c and then I will try for 1.7ghz!!! When will this insanity end? When I fry this poor little chip..:D
See screen pic for current configuration.

Great to hear of your success! I'm sure you're on your way to your 1.7 goal. :)

seems to me that the longer you keep that chip the better it performs i mean i think youre in a contstant burn in, and that might be helping the chip

Yeah, I love the feeling of a fresh install - I try and keep it down to about 1 column of icons. Got rid of Spock I see Would?
Nice oc Trancebear - I think you've inspired me to try again (got it at 1680, 2.11V) - I haven't tried for a week, so maybe burnin will be taking effect. Go for the 1.7! :D
I guess a few of us like a clean desktop. Anyway. Nice to hear that you're ringin' out more MHz from your chip. You The Man! I see you got the BMWFILMPLAYER. I liked the one with the M5.
I guess this aint sooooooo messy.
That is a lot of icons on your systray. What room temps do you guys have? It's so hot here that I need to use the a/c everytime.

Hey Would, all those icons on the lower right are start-up items all taking presious memory away from the system on start-up. I would try to redice them and you will see a vast improvment in speed. Nice pic of who? she is a bit of a hottie.

Oh, almost forgot, the cooling gods visited mt but the O/C ones are too busy to stop by. I was not able to get much higher due to memory limitations. my new RAM is now gonna take longer to get to me due to the flight cancelations. So 1.7ghz will have to wait till later.

wow AWESOME overclock! and no watercooling! that has finally settled something for me.... i say stuff water, with the money i will save, im gonna have a DUAL processor rig i think.....
thats a 60% overclock u got there! i only heard of that before with supercooling!
ALL HAIL TRANCBEAR AND HIS MIGHTY CHIP OF MUCH OVERCLOCKYNESS
You guys just caught me after a whole system clean out.... Deleted probably somewhere from 1/2 to 1 gig of stuff off the hard drive, choped the start menu to 1/4 its size, and cleaned the desktop. Still got to defrag the HD though....
All you people with tons of stuff in the system tray, what are your system resources at? With what little I have running, I'm all the way down to 27% free (right as I write)...

I will NEVER do watercooling. It is a challange to do this by air and I will continue to tweak everything I can to get to 1.7ghz with no water. Thanks for the show of wowness (is that a word?) and I share this knowledge, if ya want it just ask, it is all I have learned here on these fine forums!!
VERY nice overclock, on another subject when you said winXP was worth every penny how did you buy it as it isnt out yet?also are you running the home version or professional version of xp? just curious.

I am running RC-2 beta Pro. I downloaded it from Microsoft's website for a small fee of $10.
so once WinXP goes gold will your copy then not work? or will you have to register and buy it?if not i am getting that right now so i dont have to buy the final version when it comes out!

trancebear i think "wowness" qualifies as a word.... you are using centrifugal blowers i assume? i was thinking of getting one or two, any you suggest?
also how high do you think i could get a pair of athlon MP's on air cooling? as they are palomino core they should run nice and chilly with a pair of SK6's on them! i've heard of one guy getting one to 1.5ghz.... not sure if i believe that though as i've not heard of anyone else overclocking them.

yes dual athlons would be nice , but question the quality of tyan mobo's and how stable it would be
pluss the extra cooling needs
tyan is the only mobo manufacter that i know of that makes a dual socket A mobo

You are right, Dual MP's would be nice, but I want dual 1.533 Palaminos. I have found the Tyan board at a good cost and I will pick it up later this week. When the new chips are out I will have 2 waiting for me, until then I will build the system. I need to find out the way this one guy got the chips to work the way I want them to. We'll see.

messy desktop indeed
yes i have found the tyan MOBO for 220 ( scsi , 2 NIC , ata 100 , 4 usb , up to 4 gig ddr , 64 bit pci , ect ) and i have found that i can put a dual 1 gig mp system together for around 1,200
but i still question if i should get on the boat of something so new for AMD chips, i question the stabilty and quality

And I see you've brought back Mr. Spock. Maybe I'll give my Zanigata avatar a rest and try something else. :p
