Um, you can't get static IP without paying for it...

How what? I'm not sure I understand what your asking... Welcome to the forums by the way. :)
but how? iheared that they keep on changing Ips so that u cant keep it ( by them i mean COX )
its called assigning ip's dynamicly. that just means that your ip will change every once and awhile(if one dsl/cable). static ip's are usually asigned so that your ISP knows who has what ip address(at least thats what mine does)

I'm using Cox and have a web site running off my computer. The router gets the address and then forwards it to my computer. I haven't had any problems with the IP changing. It's been the same for two years. I just have the original service though now they have different levels.

You dont need to pay anything. All you need to do is setup a hostmask.

If you have a dynamic IP it will change but if you are using the connection most of the time it wont change very often. It will only change if you have a power outage and the router needs to renew its IP with Cox. Also if you have a dynamic IP you can use a free DNS service like www.no-ip.com. WHat that does is puts a little update client on your computer that updates your IP so you don't have to worry about it changing. Example...you want to run a website but dont want ot have to give out the IP addy everytime it changes so you use no-ip.com. YOu create a web address with no-IP like "eatmyshorts.no-ip.com". If you have their update client on your computer, everytime someone goes to eatmyshorts.no-ip.com they will be directed to your web server. Becasue of the update client you have you wont have to worry about your IP changing.

I was just using the web server as an example. You can do the same thing with The CS server. No-ip has a port redirect option so you can name your server eatmyshorts.no-ip.com and have it redirect to the port that CS runs on. That way all people have to do is type in eatmyshorts.no-ip.com for the IP of CS and they are directed to your CS server (no having to remember IP numbers). IF the port redirect doesn;t work you can make two different no-ip names. The first would be your global one to your server like eatmyshorts.no-ip.com and then youd make another and name it something like CS.no-ip.com and use No-ip's web redirect option the redirect CSno-ip.com to eatmyshorts.no-ip.com:CSport where 'CSport" is the port that CS runs on......Now whenever someone puts CS.no-ip.com in for the server IP it will redirect them to your CS server. Good luck
yay.
like my netman86.homelinux.net...which is updated to my IP by my FTP server on a regular basis....so no matter my ip, ftp://netman86.homelinux.net will point to me :)
